I spent my last spring break traveling from city to city, staying with people I'd befriended on the internet. Sometimes it was weird, sometimes I got ditched and had to sleep in bus stations or parks, and sometimes it was wicked cool.
In fact, I'm going back to Philly this weekend to stay with one of my friends I met on my travels there last year.
if its someone you just met over the intraweb and only known for like a few months then i would say no its a bad idea but on the other hand if you have known this person for like a year or two and talk to them on a consistant basis then go for it just make sure you make other plans in the city in case they turn into some pshyco and you dont want to be around them or they ditch you
i'd visit a friend (& have before) from online if i've known them for awhile. (of course, those were all in the US.) but i don't think i'd be comfortable w/ having them pay for it, unless i'd paid for something of theirs in the past...i say just go w/ your instincts. if it feels unsafe in any way, say FUCK NO!
