Has anyone ever ordered shoes or boots from this merchant? If so, how do you like the boots/shoes? I think I'm about to order their calf-high Victorian boots. I've always found that being happy in a costume has a LOT to do with having happy feet, so I think it's worth the money.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. :-D

I've seen their site but never purchased any shoes from them. Some pretty boots there! I'm going to get my pair of Victorian shoes from Fugawee. I love, love their Victoria shoe:

Cute! I can't wait to get mine. I bought some costume-y shoes 3 years ago for Dickens, and they were AWFUL pleather nightmares. Never again will I skimp on shoes.

I've never ordered from them, but have seen them discussed a lot on costuming fora. The general consensus seems to be that they charge a hell of a lot for modern shoes that look vaguely like the period article but are not in any way reproduction quality-- they're made on a modern last using modern shoe-making techniques, modern heel and toe shapes, and modern lacing methods. Whether that is "Victorian" enough for the price is the question.

If you want period-correct Victorian boots, Robert Land is the best place to go. Fugawee is also good though not quite as period-correct.

I'm not as interested in period-correctness as I am comfort. Walking on the asphalt & cement all weekend at Dickens on the Strand in Galveston (and Old City Park in Dallas, etc) is hard on the feet. I want something very comfortable, well-made, and look Victorian/Edwardian-esque. I have wide feet, and store-bought shoes aren't usually available in comfortable widths for me.

I looked at Robert Land's boots, I don't really care for the styles. I can tell they are beautifully period for sure, but they don't look like they would absorb much of the shock of stomping around on the streets of Galveston.

Thank you for the information, though!
