i've got one of those headaches...the ones that ache in a dull way until you stand up. the standing up part is where the throbbing begins. the throbbing that has you worried that blood may begin spurting out your ears. good times. i've taken something for it so i'm going to hope that it goes away soon.
i'm back to the old grind again. the office is quiet as usual. not a lot going on that i can tell. i just keep my head down and get my stuff done. what stuff there is to get done.
i had a great time in kansas last weekend! i think that is the first time that i've actually enjoyed myself there in a LONG time.
adam and i got there around 8pm on thursday. katie had a pizza ordered and waiting when we got there. such a fantastic sister :) katie and i headed up to derby middle school on friday morning. i observed her classroom and a couple of others. it was really interesting to see such different teaching styles all in the same school. katie is a great teacher and her kids love her. hopefully some of that will rub off on me when the time comes! her kids were giving presentations on computer history. each presentation had a slide on the birth/death dates of the person they were discussing. i got a kick out of the fact that the kids would put a birthday down and then beneath it have 'not dead yet'. made me giggle. kids crack me up. we had lunch with karen, which was really fun, then adam came to get me. we did the 10 cent tour of derby then headed back to katie's. we went to freddy's for dinner (mmmm shoestring fries!) then saw 'role models' (hilarious!!!).
saturday cari and cole came in to visit for a little while. i just love them to pieces. cole is the cutest kid. he is growing up SO FAST. i am really looking forward to the new baby ringwald too. cari looks fabulous as always...i think she wears a smaller size than me even when she's PREGNANT! it was nice to catch up. cari got to meet adam which was important to me. hopefully, when i see her next there will be more time to talk. i'm not good at keeping in touch with my friends in dallas...you can imagine how good i am at keeping in touch with cari! i am hoping to plan a trip before or after my student teaching for a week or so to make the kansas rounds to see katie, my cousins, and cari. that will give us more time. anyway, all in all, a very successful trip to kansas.
adam and i were both feeling a little off yesterday but made it to church regardless. the message was about the aids epidemic. wow. intense and disturbing. we both walked out a little blurry eyed. we are planning on going to the next membership class in early december. it will be really nice to do that together. the church sponsors children in katito, kenya. hopefully we can do that together someday soon too.
i've got a busy few weeks coming up. i will be finishing up class by thanksgiving. THANK YOU GOD. it is rushing to a close much faster than i realized though. i only have a few more assignments to finish then another test. ugh. hopefully i can pull everything together and do well. i should have some plane time to study since i will be traveling to austin and houston over the next couple of weeks. we have test products in kohls and no one to place them since the layoffs. so, tricia and i get to travel some. it should be fun b/c i enjoy her so much. plus, getting out of town (read: the OFFICE) is always good too. austin early next week, then houston early the week after. this weekend i'm babysitting for a friend of karen's. just one five year old that will be in bed an hour after i get there. i love kiddos but i love getting paid cash for doing homework and watching tv even MORE! good stuff.
that's all i've got right now. it's already 1130 and i'm out of here at 2pm to do a run through our fullfillment warehouse in garland. weehoo, early day!
hope everyone had a great weekend!
