[A recently updated Lavi is making his way out toward her, well...dragging a foot. Tyki got most of the parasites out of him but a few are still lingering and make it difficult to get around. Puts his own coat over her shoulders.]

You okay, Lenalee?

[There's no reaction from her at first. She's completely out of it. Then she draws a sort of shuddering breath and her eyes refocus as she glances up at him. She kind of looks like she's seen a ghost.] L-Lavi?

[arebornstar]

[Smiles at her worriedly.] Yeah, one of them anyway.

[Slowly crouching beside her, moving stiffly the whole way until he's resting his head on crossed arms on his knees. Still hasn't really looked out at the ocean.] You okay? Seems like you should be in bed if those bandages tell the truth. Overwork yourself again?

[fallforthesky]

[Looks back out at the water, pulling his coat tighter around her shoulders. There's still a blankness to her face, like she's not all there. She isn't, really.] I suppose.

...I went home.

[arebornstar]

[Lavi reaches out and puts a hand on the top of her head, fingers sliding into her hair in a light ruffle.]

I know how that is. Home...isn't really my favorite place at the moment either.

[Trembles visibly at his touch. She's so scared by the idea that the DR could be the only place she will see Lavi again, if things go wrong at home.]

[Increasingly broken:] Everything's gone wrong. You've gone missing-- Kanda's-- oh, god, Lavi... why did I have to come back here?

[Yeah, he's not having fun at home either. It was horrible coming from there to here.

Lavi frowns and sits, his feet joining her own hanging off the dock as he wraps that arm around her shoulders and pulls her into a hug.] Hey... We'll get out of it, yeah? We always manage somehow. I don't know what happened to Yuu but... I'm sure me and Gramps will get to come back to everyone soon. [With or without the Innocence is the question.]

[The wrenching around is a lot to take normally. The circumstances just make it worse. Lenalee turns into the hug and gets as close to clinging she can get without actually clinging, nevermind personal space. In her distraught state, she doesn't even notice that he mentioned Bookman when she hadn't.]

It feels like we've been surviving on borrowed luck up until now. I don't want to lose anyone else!

[Lavi lets her, mostly because moving quickly still isn't something he can do, but he wraps his other arm around her. With Lenalee he doesn't really mind the lack of personal space, even if she's not his Lenalee. He's pretty sure his own is having the same kinds of thoughts at home and if he can't comfort her there he can do his damned best here.]

We'll get back and we'll find Yuu, I promise. I am a rabbit, right? [Little try for humor] I'm lucky.

[Normally, she'd be much more reserved about touching strangers, but she's not exactly in a strong state of mind right now. For his sake, she's doing her best not to start crying. She didn't do it at home, she won't do it here. Still, her voice is very broken now.]

I'd give anything for that to be true. For Kanda to come back... for you to argue with him again.

[This Lavi is one of those that can't resist helping someone. Especially a familiar face. And he wouldn't mind if she did.]

And how do we know it's not true? I know it will, Lenalee. Everyone will come back, just wait.

It feels like nothing good can be true right now. [Tightens her hands on his shirt. If he keeps talking like this, she just might start crying.] I want to believe you, Lavi, I do. It's just hard right now.

I'm sure... you're right.

[Hopes.]

[arebornstar]

[He ruffles her hair reassuringly. Wanting to believe himself too, home's just seriously messed up.] I know, bleak skies all around don't help you see the silver lining either.

[Lavi lowers his head so it's sort of beside her's.] Just hold out hope, yeah?

[fallforthesky]

[Messed up is putting it so, so politely. She sniffles quietly.] I'll... do my best.

[And as if she's only just now noticed the wind and cold:] You should take your coat back.

[x: Yes. We must mind our mouths. He grins at her.] There's the Lenalee we know and love.

[Grin weakens a bit though it quirks up at the corners.] I'm fine, can barely feel temperature anymore.
