[The feeling this room gives off is vaguely familiar. The fact that this whole place is just empty brings that memory even closer.

Time to just find a way out.]

[For all intents and purposes, the place looks and behaves like a regular lobby, save for the lack of people. The longer that Kanda putters around in the lobby, however, the more it feels like the room is getting restless.]

[It starts with an invisible hand lashing out to strike the bell, as if calling for the bellhop.]

[The bell catches his attention, and Kanda's glancing over at it for a moment before walking over, placing a hand over it to silence it.]

[The moment that his hand falls over the bell, there's a loud grating sound, followed by a ding!. A light comes on above the elevators, and the doors open, followed by the old grating.]

[Going up? Down?]

[Kanda glanced over his shoulder toward the elevators. He gave a 'tch' before walking over toward it. He stopped just short of entering, hesitating for a moment. He probably shouldn't go in, but if whatever it was was inviting him...

He stepped over the threshold and inside.

Let's try going up first, and he pushed the button.]

[There is a rather sickeningly sweet sort of smell in the elevator. If Kanda is paying attention, it may very well smell like that of lotus blossoms. While most elevator doors would shut within a few moments of there not being anyone walking through them, these stay open until Kanda is completely inside.]

[Up is fine. The gate closes first, followed by the doors, and the machine begins to lurch its way upward.]

[Don't look now, but something pink is falling from the ceiling of the elevator and fluttering to the floor now - a lotus blossom]

[Saying Kanda was only tense would have been an understatement. The falling petals he can place easily enough, and with how quickly they're falling reminds him of when he had gotten trapped in Sophia's illusion. It wasn't real. It wasn't his.

Not his lotus.

His grip on Mugen tightened and put the petals out of his mind and waited for the elevator to reach his destination. He wasn't going to fall for the obvious bait.]

[The elevator continues to lurch its way upward and shudders to a stop. The petals fall faster and faster, gathering in a growing pink pile on the floor. There's the sound of rushing water.]

[Don't look now - but water is starting to flood the elevator.]

[He does look, especially when he actually feels the water around his boots. Kanda takes a step back as he watches the growing floor for the briefest of moments, still paying no attention to the falling petals as he moves to withdraw Mugen.

Another step back as he manages to draw his weapon and activates it. He didn't feel like waiting to see what was going to happen; he was going to get out of here one way or another.

With that in mind, he glanced up at the elevator's ceiling and moved to cut it open.]

[The water continues to flood the floor, rising to Kanda's knees. Try all he might, Mugen is going to bounce right off the ceiling, leaving sparks that sizzle in the water. More petals continue to fall, lining the surface of the water in pink.]

[Steadily getting higher and higher and higher~]

[Dammit. Kanda gives another quick glance at the rising water before trying to break the doors, this time. If Mugen wouldn't work, then maybe he could kick it down.]

[As the water starts to rise - higher and higher, it's at chest-level now - the elevator rumbles to life and starts to climb again. More petals continue to fall, creating a thicker blanket of pink across the water's surface.]

[Something brushes past Kanda beneath the water - something that felt like a hand.]

[Kanda stumbled forward as the elevator lurched to life again, a hand reaching out to catch himself before he could crash into the wall. It was bad enough that he normally saw lotus everywhere, but add in the falling petals and it was just ridiculous. Seeing was definitely becoming a challenge, but something as trivial as his sight being taken wasn't going to stop him.

He stopped when he felt it brush by him - a hand? or his uniform? - and cast a glance down at the petal-covered water. He didn't dare move until he was sure he was either imagining or not imagining what he had just felt.]

...Who's there?

[And still, the petals continue to fall and the water continues to rise - it's neck-high now.]

[Whatever it is brushes over his chest, like a hand sliding over his uniform. It slips away, whatever it is moving underneath the blanket of petals without an issue.]

[The elevator comes to a stop just as the water rises above his head. The view beneath the water is an odd one - petals are sinking to the floor of the elevator through the water like an odd pink snow. And in the very corner of the elevator, wrapped in a gossamer sheet, is a familiar blond woman. The gaze in her eyes is both murderous, and dead, if it was ever possible to describe a look in those terms.]

[Kanda reached up to try and grab the hand, but the water slowed his movements enough that he just missed. He cursed and tipped his head as the water continued to rise, taking a deep breath before he was completely submerged.

The sight of the sheet caught his attention, and he stopped once he caught sight of the woman. It couldn't be... But that look, he knew that look. Alma had it in Rhode's dream world, when he was in it, when he had to face Alma's akuma self.

Instinct still ruled over his actions, and Kanda swam over to the woman, reaching out to pull her in his arms.]
