[if you're passing through this long, winding hallway on your way to wherever you're going, you may walk by this corner with a little alcove in it. Those who happen to glance towards the alcove, for whatever reason, will find a young man with vivid red hair tucked firmly into it, looking around with one wide, frightened eye and holding a plain

['Tias comes to a stop, at first thinking it her friend Walker huddled in the alcove. But while his avoidance of others is familiar, there is an air about him that isn't. So 'Tias smiles and gives him a little wave from across the hall, on her way to the infirmary.]

[starts a little - because wow, that's weird as hell, why does this person look like him. Like, exactly like him.]

[Hey now, she doesn't look exactly like him~ Could be a long lost twin!

'Tias tucks a strand of hair behind her ear, clasping her hands behind her back.] Ya alright over there?

[write_silence]

[suspicious; if he could shrink further back into the alcove he would, but he's already right pressed up against the stone wall behind him. Just nods, pressing his lips together in a tight line]

[themisnamed]

[She straightens and sighs, looking a might worried.] Ya don't have to worry about me, yeah? I won't hurt you. 'm just worried.

Ya new here, Lavi?

[starts again in surprise at hearing his name, wondering how she knows it, then just looks down, staring at the floor. People worry about him a lot, but he doesn't trust any of them.]

[She sidesteps a bit closer still smiling, just this once reading his curious expression. When she had first arrived she was the same way.] Used to be my name when I was younger, too.

I go by 'Tias now, if that'd help ya keep us mentally separated.

[wants so badly to ask wtf is going on here, where he is and all of that - but he hasn't spoken in so long that even if he wanted to, he isn't sure his voice would work, so he just keeps his gaze on the floor just in front of his sneakers]

[Digging in her pocket for a moment and pulls out a pamphlet, holding it out.]

Here. It'll explain things a bit.

[hesitantly reaches out to take the pamphlet, reads through it quickly, then again. His first insinct is to believe this is an elaborate prank, and he shakes his head slowly, wondering where he really is.]

I know how ya feel. Didn't believe it at first but after a while...kinda got used to it. Made myself a small family that I couldn't have at home. [Girl's even married and pregnant now, something she'd never have at home.]

[he looks at the pamphlet again, then back up at her, and holds it out to her; he's already memorized what it says, after all. He'll have to see more before he can bring himself to believe it's not a practical joke of some sort, though.]

[She takes it back quietly, putting it in her pocket.]

'm on my way to the infirmary, there's a cafeteria not far from it 'nd a library right across. I could show you the way?

[hesitates, then nods slightly; as tempting as it is to just stay here, he will have to eat eventually, and a library is just too tempting to resist]

['Tias holds out her hand for him to take if he wants.]

[he opts to refuse, giving her a slightly apologetic look and shaking his head a bit. He doesn't really let people touch him unless they're beating on him and he doesn't have a choice. He'll follow her though!]
