[Lavi, the helpless romantic, is currently draped over a couch in a sitting room, reading this horribly cheesy romance novel. And totally one hundred percent absorbed in it. So absorbed, that he probably wouldn't notice anyone come up to him until it was too late too hide his guilty pleasure of a pasttime

[exploring, a large volume in his arms and his ever-present backpack hanging off one shoulder - his book is something to do with some complicated branch of science, and he's definitely a bit surprised to see other-him reading something like that.

He hesitates a bit, not sure whether to sit down and read as well or tiptoe out again; he's pretty sure this Lavi is the one he met, who made him tea, but will the other Lavi remember him...?]

[ohhh you could say that. It's just that he doesn't think he could trust anyone enough to be that close to him, ever. Glances in the direction of the book though and shrugs a little, smiling very faintly]

[Smiles and slowly reaches for Lavi's book so Lavi can see what he's aiming for]

Mind if I take a look?

[willingly hands the book over. He's devouring anything he can get his hands on in the libraries here, including all sorts of weird science, history, maths, and the like.]

[Skimming a few pages, though some of the ideas and concepts go a little over his head]

Are you good with this kind of stuff?

[write_silence]

[makes the so-so gesture with his hand. He mostly understands it, but some concepts lead him into huge tangents of research in order to fully comprehend them.]

Anything in particular that you're trying to do? Probably lots of new toys and books for you here, yeah.

[shakes his head - honestly, he's just learning for the sake of learning. His life really doesn't have any goals or direction to it, even before coming here. He is really enjoying the libraries here, though.]

Then maybe you can help me with a side project?

[write_silence]

[ooh, that piques his interest. He tilts his head a little, curious.]

Did you think you could figure out how to make synthetic sunlight?

[write_silence]

[synthetic sunlight? That sounds like one hell of an interesting project. He thinks about it a moment, then nods slowly. He'd really like to do something like that, to help Lavi and because it would keep him busy and be really kinda neat to work on.]

[Claps his hands excitedly]

I mean technically light bulbs could be considered synthetic sunlight. But I'm more interested in something that you can install in the ceiling that mimics actual sunlight, yeah. Like... being warm and casting rays. Ideally it would also have the same cycle as the sun so that you'd get different angles of light throughout the day.

... But that last one might be just a bit overambitious.

[oh, he's not so sure it's overambitious. It's exciting, and a slow grin forms on his face as he thinks, the wheels turning almost visibly in his head.]

If you need materials, yeah. I'll see what I can do to find them.

[nods slightly. He's grateful for that, he still doesn't know where a lot of stuff would be here, or how to reliably make things appear for him. Absently, he draws a notepad out of his bag and flips to a blank sheet, starting to scribble things down]
