[At around nightfall in one large kitchen/dining room in the West wing, there is a party going on. A birthday party to be exact, judging by the giant Happy Birthday, Allen sign hanging across the door. Food of all kind is piled up high on every available countertop in case lots of Allens do show up

Oh, so that's-- that's your roommate. Actually, I know... him... [And she trails off, leaning over a little and squinting to get a better look at the Allen. He's familiar. So are his golden eyes. It takes a second before everything clicks, and when it does, she looks even more perplexed.]
...He's a vampire again.

He got into some of the tea that makes you human a little while ago... did you meet him when he wasn't?

[And then there was the half-dead Finder and all that jazz... She gives something of a strained smile and tries very 'subtly' to change the topic.] But I suppose that won't be an issue here. [Gestures at the veritable blood bank that is the centrepiece with a weak laugh.] --Good to finally know what you are, by the way.
[Since the bottles are labelled as for the birthday boy, and that's you... And now that she's got both vampire Allens to glance between, the similarities are glaringly obvious.]

He's a lot better about eating regularly now... [But he pauses, before offering a slightly wider smile than he usually did around her - showing off the teeth for once.]
...I'm sorry. I didn't want to scare you. If I'd known you knew Allen... [He shakes his head.] He's family.

...I don't talk to him much. We didn't exactly hit it off very well. [A 'what can you do?' sort of shrug.] So he's family? Your... [Ah, she thinks she understands now.] --You know, I think he told me about you, when he was human. He mentioned a brother.

[Pausing a little at the mention of a brother, though. In his case, he only had one brother; but in Allen's...] That may not have been me... I consider him a brother-- but even by our standards, I don't think we're actually brothers.
...The person that turned me would be his actual brother. A Lavi.

[Another flicker of recognition, though this time a bit embarrassed; she really doesn't have the capacity to keep track of so many people.]
Oh. That's right... he did bring up a Lavi, too... [HOW MANY PEOPLE HERE ARE VAMPIRES she doesn't even know anymore.]
[Giving a wry smile.] I'm afraid I don't much understand the entire siring business.
[The way she puts a delicate stress on the word 'sire' is enough proof of that.]

I'm not sure any of us really get it... [And his expression is a little sheepish at that.] Allen might... but my sire-- his didn't stick around after he turned... and mine wasn't around very much, either. But I know Allen and him were sired by the same person, so they're brothers.
...I had a brother like that, too.. but he's gone now.

[Not necessarily right away, but... eventually? Sounding appropriately perturbed:] That's unfair.
Reply
And well... most people were unfair.] Mr. Bitey did sort of stay with me... but I think because no one taught him, he didn't really know how to help me.

[It sounds like she's reassuring herself.]
Reply
...I like to think I did. [He thinks Lenalee would disagree if she knew, though.] I couldn't ask for a better family.

[And she really, really means that, even if part of her feels a pang because... they only last so long as they're all here.]

Are you sure there isn't anything I could get for you, though..? It doesn't have to be cake.

[And her smile switches from opening up to a bit chagrined. Doesn't exactly feel right for him to be offering her food. Shakes her head.] ...no, I'm fine. Really. You should save the food for your friends. It's your party; I just... wandered in on accident.
