Tabletop Love

Man, I do so love L5R tabletop!

Currently, we've escaped from the Fu Leng's Moving Castle... but not to a Rokugan we know. There's some "Army of Darkness" attacking from NW of Scorpion lands.

There's quite a bit of room for improvement with my character...

And here's my dillema )

Mekton Zeta is a fun system, it was actually my first ever tabletop RPG. The Anime crew I hung out with had a game that had been going on for years and they managed to work a new character in. There was all kinds of plot and intrigue, very cool. Coolest part was that everyone in the party had some sort of "dark secret" that would turn everyone else against them if they found out... made for some extremely interesting party dynamics. :)

I do miss our L5R tabletop game, some of my most enjoyable gaming memories came from that system.

The L5R game I'm in... we all told the GM what we wanted to play, and he made our characters... aside from us being involved in the heritage tables. Every one of us rolled a Dishonorable Past or Corrupted Ancestor or something like that, sounds similar to what went on in your Mekton Zeta game.

I'm playing an Akodo of the Kitsu Shugenja school.

Mekton Zeta lifepaths are Hillariously awesome. The problem is I'd have to find someone who's willing to do some of the mecha design work as I'm going to use Mekton Zeta Plus.

Btw, did your MZ game involve Psychics/Espers?

I'm thinking of involving them, but don't know if I want them to be weak on the ground and lots better in Meks, vice-versa, or weak allaround. I'm probably going to go with some sort of dervived Psi Stat.

The MZ game had a few Espers, but most of the strong ones were NPCs or the GMs characters. A few gained esper talent through various different things, though, my character happened to get it from certain bio-engineering experiments she signed up for and ended up with a bio-based mecha she controlled telepathically... was very cool.

L5R I tend to play Crane or Scorpion. My absolute favorite moment ever was when I (as my Scorpion character) completely humiliated an Akodo bushi into being ordered by his commanding officer to commit sepukku in the middle of the street. Oh, she was evil. XD

You don't need a high TN to be hit, because the second I hit rank 3 your TN rockets to mine, because I have leet yojimbo skills.

I know you're a kick-ass yojimbo, but an Akodo should be (correct me if I'm wrong) able to hold his own in battle. Especially, since I'll be 7k3 to hit, 7k3 damage with my Bo of Water once I do buy Agility 3 ( ... )

See, you're a SHUGENJA. I'd go for whatever will decrease spell failure. Even Akodo get that a shugenja isn't supposed to be out there with a beat stick. He's calling the Kami to bitch slap the enemy. So if you had some more martially inclined spells, like Fire or Air can be, you'd be golden.

Actually, I've been reading. Several shugenja clans/schools teach pacifism, including the Kitsu Shugenja school ( ... )
