FIGARO, FIGARO, FIGARO!
I am not up on all the Operas but believe it or not my Sweetheart knows a bit, years ago he and a buddy used to go to the Opera one or both of them were dating a female Opera singer(s). So I guess opera is for 'straight' people too. In Europe opera is a big deal and much more popular than here in the state.
I hope you have fun and I can't wait to read all about it.

And I have to admit I'm a little surprised at your uneasiness around gay guys. I never thought that would be an issue with you. But I still like you :P

It's never too late to challenge old habits and social conditioning. If you have to sit through an opera, at least Barber of Seville is entertaining. (It's one of the few I can sit through--I loathe opera performances even though I like specific pieces of music from many of them.)

That said, Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd in The Marriage of Figaro is one of my FAVORITE cartoons. I used it to teach my elementary school aged kids about music.

good luck! :) Ryan is a HUGE homophobe. So needless to say when he found out that his brother-in-law was gay and divorcing his sister it didn't go over very well. I too am not very comfortable around gays. I don't care what their orientation is, that's their business. But it makes me uncomfortable to be around either same-sex couple when they are openly displaying it. And I am really trying to make an effort to be ok with them as individuals. I'm fine until they say or do something really gay and then that makes me feel weird lol.
