Steve and I went to some rescue agencies to find our new dog, and honestly, we had no good luck. Dogs we were interested in were already in the process of adoption. It quickly became very frustrating.

How we found our girl Luna was by via the MS Dogs alias, connecting with someone who does dog rescue privately out of her house. I would strongly recommend posting there, explaining that you're looking for a dog in need of a home, and posting your specifics.
