By now you know me, if I like an actor/actress, I must see everything they've done... Before the summer the last *love* was Michael Weatherly. The Italian television with its Dark Angel and NCIS re-run during the summer had fed my obsession... I'm waiting for Charlie Valantine DVD, meanwhile I've finally found "The Mystery of Natalie Wood", where

Just remembered I still need to upload the rest of the screencaps. Tried to did it at my Aunt's house this weekend and I kept losing the internet connection. Now that I'm home, with a good internet connection, off to upload the rest. When I have the chance this week going to cap the 150th episode extra from the dvd set.

BTW, I'd like to try creating icons myself (either animated like these, or static ones). I have seasons 1-6 on DVD and will be buying season 7 soon, so lots of material to use! :)
Question: What is a good software program to use? I'm guessing I'll need to download one. Are there any decent free ones, or is it better to buy one?
Thanks in advance!

I never managed to make animated gifs <40KB (the limit here on lj) so I can't really help but there is a great tutorial to make gifs here
they use photoshop, as you can see.
I've always used the Corel Suite for banners/icons I've made, but lately I've been lazy and I simply used this online program, picnik (I've done the MW icon I'm using in this comment, for example).
Another free alternative is GIMP, there are tutorial to make icons/animated gif with GIMP, but I've never used it so I can't help you here.
Personally, for the Animated Gifs, this is my way:
I convert the VOB from the DVD to AVI (or found the AVI version in the web), then I use free programs like Cut Assistant or Avidemux to cut out the scene I want to make gifs from.
Then there is this little free program to convert avi to gif, called Movies 13 that does a wonderful job.
Commercial alternative to have a better control on the process are Geovid Video Avatar or, the almost professional Ulead GifAnimator (it used to be freeware, but the last free ( ... )

(Oh boy, maybe I should just leave well enough alone, or take a course somewhere...I think I'm in over my head!)
I'll start with the tutorial you linked, and see if I can understand it.
Thanks again!

VOB: is the format the videos in the DVDs (if you explore the dvds you usually find a AUDIO folder and VIDEO folder, and in the latter, the .vob files.)
AVI: is a compressed format: an NCIS episode can be compressed in a 350MB file without loosing quality.
It may take a little to understand all those stuff but don't let it scare you. I'm sure you can find plenty of tutorial in the internet (I can't link any, the ones I used are all in italian, lol). :)

And yes, its fun when you watch something for one actor and there are those surprises.
Wait: Christian Kane was in Buffy too? I need to watch more Buffy - I'm in S2, now. This Winding Roads is yet another TV movie, right? My MW current obsession It's frustrating, it such hard to find those tv movies and indi movies he did (next on my list: desperately searching for Venus & Mars)
Yes, I was especially curious about The Mystery of Natalie Wood after the RW impression MW did in an interview and it was worth it. He really did a great job! If NCIS was still a Bellisario show, we should even have some bizarro dream like episode with our actors in the past or something, wouldn't that be funny? But I would be satisfied with a Uniform!Tony :)

Yes, he is really pretty and did a great job... and you should see him in those awful 70/80 clothes and hair-do,,, I could cap some, but I usually do it manually and I don't have too much time...
how do you do your capping?
beside, my Charlie Valentine DVD just arrived and I would make some gif from that too ;)
You are welcome!

I'm sure he did a wonderful job; Michael always gives a stellar performance & unfortunately, period pieces do come packaged with styles of the era. Manual capping is a pain, but depending on how much screen-time Michael has, I can usually do it in the length of the film time or less. My capping technique varies, based on whether I want the entire film or not.
Where are you located? It's possible you could send me the disc & I could do the capping for you. If that proves too difficult, I could probably teach you some tricks. It's not the capping that's complicated or time-consuming so much; it's actually the packaging, uploading & promoting the caps after the fact that takes the most time for me.
I'll be capping Charlie Valentine as soon as it arrives for me. Hoping to pull some high-def caps off it. Gifs are good too! *smiles*
Thanks again!
