Sabor do Portugal.

This is gong to be a long(ish) post. But with lot of pics. In bullet point form. Let's start!

1. I'm really dangerous with some cash in my hand. I got paid for a job I did in July. And I went on a shopping spree. Luckily there are still sales. So I'm now the proud (LOL) owner of a new pair of sunglasses
(not my photo, but the model is this one):

[50% off]

2 pair on sneakers - I actually needed a new pair of runners, but I couldn't resist the leather Fila Ferrari Vintage collection, especially since they were 60% off, and in anyway both pair were less than 50€ - this is one of my rules: I would never EVER pay more than 50€ for a pair of shoes. Notice the little rampant horse engraved. And I'm not even a Ferrari fan! LOL!

A new shiny little cute EEEPC! (sadly my old notebook died during this summer, after 7 years of honorable service. RIP. *wipes away a single tears* )

And a WII!!! I'm addicted to the tennis game. Like, I_play_until_my_arm_ache addicted. what's your favorite game? rec me!

2. Obviously, only after I spent all this money... the mechanism of the electric window of my car broke. So the part I wanted to put away like a little good ant for the winter... will go directly to my mechanic, tomorrow.

3. Saturday had a saudade attack: nostalgia of Portugal and so I decided to make some Pasteis de Nata, that are those delicious little tarts we used to eat for breakfast with our coffee. If you ever go to Portugal, don't miss it. Very tasty and really simple to do.

for 10 tarts:
1 roll of ready prepared puff pastry
250 ml milk cream
1 spoon of flour
100 gr of sugar (or 4 spoons)
4 egg yolks
icing sugar and cinnamon powder for the dusting

Unroll the pastry, cut it in 2, put one part over the other and roll it again. The diameter should be a little lesser than the cups or the holes of the muffin tray. Then cut rounds about 2 cm-thick, grease the cups, and put one round of dough in each cup, one of the cut side on the bottom

using both the thumbs, gently press and spread the dough on the side, the bottom must be thiner than the dough on the side.

Place in the fridge while making the filling.

The filling:
Combine the cream milk, the flour, the sugar and the eggs and cook on a light/medium heat, stirring constantly, until it starts to fever. Then let it cool. It's not a traditional custard cream, as you can see, it must be very liquid. No need to cook it too much, since it will cook in a very hot oven too...

When the filling is lukewarm, and the oven is preheated enough (a would say around 200° C), fill to 1/2 the cups with the cream mixture (the cream will grow, and we don't want the cream to overboard...) and put the the oven. Bake for 15min but it really depends on how your oven is. As a general rule, keep an eye on the tarts, when the pastry looks a deep golden color and the cream is just starting to burn, are done.

well. unless happens what happened to me. When I was ready to bake... a strange noise and the oven stopped working. So I asked my neighbor to bake in her oven, but it wasn't preheated enough, so the results are not so good looking. apparently were good enough for my parents, since this morning they went to visit my grandpa for 4 days, and took all but 2 tarts with them. oh well... LOL!

Can be eated warm or cold, with a dust of cimmanon and sugar on top.
This is my little misfortunate pastel. the other pic on top of the recipe is how they were supposed to look. But it tasted good. :)

For my new friends, previously done: Tiramisù, Pumpkin Lasagna and Spinach Lasagna. Is there any Italian recipe you want to know "how to"? Feel free to ask, if I know how to cook it, I will be happy to share the goodness. :)
