Congratulations, New York! I was watching the vote live online last night and could not get over how many speakers said, "this was a hard decisions, this was a struggle..." or a variation on that theme. Dignifying your fellow humans with full citizenship should not be that difficult! But I don't even mind right now because we're one state closer!

(Also, can't wait to see all the marriage that come out of this. *grins*)

I couldn't watch the vote, I'd been too on edge all week. When NY1 announced it I turned it on for a minute but there was some guy from an African nation speaking for some unfathomable reason.

What kills me is that a lot of the people saying "oh this was a difficult decision" are only doing that to play politics and appease any constituents who are pissed off that they are actually compassionate human beings. I mean, I love my home state, but once you venture out of New York City, this can be a scary backwoods place and for the most part, they're all pissed off that everything in the state is dictated by NYC.

It's gonna be awesome! They're already expecting a huge crowd starting July 25th so they announced tat they'll start taking preregistrations on July 5th, that they'll waive the 24 hour waiting period between filing the license and the ceremony, and that they'll need to hire more workers to deal with the surge. Win all around ^.^
