For all my posturing that I do not care about anything nonDair related, I do still have feelings and a bit of caring for nonDair aspects of this shit show (this was what I was hoping to avoid with avoiding the show as a whole until it was done and then going back to watch all of the glorious Dair but now that I am convinced that Dair are endgame I ( Read more... )

yep you're dead on about the problems with B/S (bs. heh. hahahahaaa. okay) and their friendship. I want the best for them but they continually act the worst. Blair's my girl always but she also has had her share of terrible friend moments, but I think that the difference between her and Serena is that the show is better at getting at Blair's POV so we know that a lot of what drives her bad behavior is based on her own deep insecurities and fears. It's harder to sympathize with Serena because the writers have been fucking up with her character for years now. Serena didn't start off in this show totally selfish and awful as she has been the last few seasons. she may have been self-centered and oblivious to others but she was still at core a good person. I just hate the way they've written her ever since late s2. It was the whole trying to get her dad's attention thing that started me on my dislike Serena spiral. And then her flaking out on college (this seems to be a peeve of mine which is ironic in light of my own life choices) and ( ... )

Oh and you cannot deny the hot eyesex action that was going on between V/R while they were working at the cafe/art gallery thing...gazing at each other from across the counter as they talk about stuff...

seriously i felt chemistry vibes coming off of them and actually really wondered if they were going to have them hook up for real during early s2.

And one last thing- these people are way too incestuous to really still be friends. How can Nate and Dan still be friends when they've both slept with AND had strong feelings for Vanessa AND Serena? And not actually like a couple of years apart, but in the same season! (Not to mention Nate almost having a thing with Dan's sister.) Or more irritating- how can Dan even have a pseudo-friendship with Chuck after all the shit he's pulled on Blair or Jenny?

(I want a Dan/Chuck punch-up and I want it now... I may go back and watch S.1 again- Dan punches Chuck in the first episode right?)

Don't forget Blair. They both loved her too! Yeah that's the thing with shows like these. You have only so many combinations of pairings you can explore without breaking taboos like real incest, or i guess you could bring in guest stars but gg is terrible at casting them and they've all been boring. Bland characters played mediocrely by people who should be better at their job. The only guest star who's character AND actor delivered IMO was Juliet. She was interesting and I liked her with Nate ( ... )
