Anyone around here get to 99 post 1.10? How'd you do it?

I'm feeling the itch to play again, and since I have much gear in single player, it is really about time I attempted to put together a character with the aim of getting to 99. When I do this, I think I'd be doing myself a disservice if I didn't choose Barbarian.
Important to know about my single player stuff. I've inherited a known bug into my item pool (one can read all about this over at the incgamers site, but it isn't particularly interesting) the short of it is that: I have an Indestructible Ethereal Berserker Axe Grief. AND, since I have this bug as part of my item pool, it means a) I'm happy to get another one, b) Ethereal Berserker Axe "Beast" runewords become far more interesting (comparable to Grief).
So, anyway, how'd you gear a Barb if your only intent was to get to 99? (magic find + horking are of no concern)
Thigs to note:
1. Where'd you be gaining XP? (aka, will I be dealing with Tomb Vipers, Dolls, PIs, etc)
2. Travel time vs actually killing stuff time (fcr for teleports?)
3. How much survivability vs damage output? (a death at level 98 is days or weeks of play)
I'm interested in thoughts, even if it isn't an entire plan for 1-99 and every set of gear for the whole journey. If something is ridiculously good for, say, 70-95, I'll use it for that stretch and then change things up.
I have scribbles on a piece of paper for a particular style of build, I'll add 'em in if any discussion gets going :-p
