Man, that is so fucking scary. I'm sorry you and Diablo had to go through all of that. Last summer both of my cats had to have similar operations because of cat fights. Those drainage tubes are so gruesome.
I couldn't agree more. The ability for all animals to be aggressive is present. Just because they've been tamed never means that they lose their base instincts of fight or flight. I hope you doggie heals well and quickly. I lost a cat to a couple of pitbulls once, but I will say that they weren't properly trained and hadn't been fed in a week. They came after us as well. I'll keep your bundle of joy in my thoughts :)
He was holding the dog's leash. I was not his fault...there was nothing he could have done. I was just lucky to have reacted quickly enough...trust me...it might have turned out much differently had I hesitated a few seconds.
In addition, you are quite right about how all dogs have the potential to be aggressive. I umm *blushes* had a scar on a...ummm..."special spot" for a few years from a pug that was food aggressive when it came to his owners.
