Well I guess I’ll start with bad news first. I got a physical a few weeks ago and I got the dreaded results today and I’m type 2 diabetic. I had a meeting with a nutritionist and it was kind of embarrassing admitting my eating habits and exercise routine (lack thereof). She instructed me on what I need to start changing which include paying ( Read more... )

Sorry to hear about your condition. Chin up!

And thanks once again for having me and my buddy Tyler up. Hopefully we can go out later afterwards. My friend Josh should be coming next time!

Sorry to hear that, Jim. I have a book to give you. It's got info, but more importantly, good recipes.

See you soon.

wow! that's freakin crazy! Did you just develop it or do you think you've had it undiagnosed for a long time?! lame, either way. Hey at least when it gets warm walking around downtown madison is fun! I'll join you sometimes. when it's warm.

How are things going at the N-world?

When I talked to the Dr. he mentioned that my glucose level was higher then it should have been when I got my physical 4 years ago. He didn't mention anything about it then though. Things are going well at the store, I've been getting quite a bit of stuff done in the last few weeks. I look forward to wandering state street with you once its sane to be out.

Let me know if you have any questions or whatever...

Diabetes isn't the worst thing in the world. Best advice I can give you is to keep your blood sugar under control- that will prevent a lot of the really crappy complications and conditions people develop secondary to diabetes.

Thanks. Is there a book you would recommend me reading that has more details? I do feel a bit lacking in practical knowledge of diabetes.

I could give you one of my nursing textbooks. Otherwise check out the American Diabetes Association's website www.diabetes.org. They have a ton of information, plus nutrition and recipes. They have a section for people who have just been diagnosed, it helped my mom a lot when she found out she has it. Let me know if you want to take a look at my textbook, but I would forewarn you that it will also talk about the stuff that can happen later on, and I don't know how much you want to hear about that just yet. ;)
