There must be a break-up bug going around. I know of three couples that split in the past week.
I received a surprisingly polite, but quite blunt email from one of my favorite clients telling us that she has 10 new assignments to dole out, but will not be issuing them to us because lately our work has been late on the return. (Note: the email was sent yesterday, but our entire email system was done yesterday.) This really didn’t come as a shock since I’ve been expecting it for a while.
To start, in her area we have
one lazy egotistical investigator who is STILL consistently fucking up my feng shui in Albany. He is currently up for a promotion and was behaving for the last week and a half. The promotion is to be announved tomorrow. It is between him and an investigator WHO ACTUAL DESERVES IT. As suspected, ever since his interview he has been slacking. Fucking toffer!*
Then, we had a ton of investigators quit in the NY area. Some were for medical reasons, but the majority went to work for another investigation company. I don’t blame them at all since they are receiving more money - at salary (which is a VERY good deal for investigators in the insurance fraud business since most of the time they have too much work in the summer and almost no work in the winter) - better incentives and they are treated better. However, this came at the worst possible time as summer is our busiest season.
Plus the fact that 5 NY investigators were just put on probation - 3 of which are more than likely going to be fired. I had the pleasure of hearing the rant of one of the FMs who is about as stressed out as a housewife without her valium.
And then we have the scheduler for the north east region. This chic is a sweetheart, but I don’t think scheduling is her “knack.” Part of me thinks that she is doing her best and it’s not her fault that we don’t have the resources in the areas, but the other part of me (the one who looks at the scheduling matrix) thinks she spends too much time on the phone or fucking around instead of trying to figure out how to set the schedule so the cases are making the due dates. I dunno, maybe it’s a combination of both. Either way it is really frustrating that half of my cases are being started AFTER the due date, when you can look on the schedule matrix and see little gaps that could have been filled in with one of them.
My supervisor is going to have a meeting with his boss’s boss about this region and hopefully, it will be decided that they CAN send a swat team of CA investigators to NY to help with the backlog.
Karma’s a bitch - I just hope she doesn’t come back to bite me in the ass over this one. Technically it’s not *my* fault, but the email from my client was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
The lump on Mephistopheles is almost gone. I give it a few more days to vanish entirely. I spoke with the vet and she advised that it was a sterile lump of blood cells probably caused by a puncture of some kind. She thinks it occurred when he received his second set of shots from the rescue foundation’s vet.
My mom called me just before 6am this morning because "it was the only time I could sneak away and call without anyone overhearing." So a quite groggy diabolica got an earful about the reunion. Apparently three fights have broken out thus far. That’s really all I recall. But fear not, she will retell the tale 50 times over when she returns.
