I just got word that my friends from coastal Mississippi no longer have a house. Currently it is under 4 feet of water and their possessions are pretty much trashed. They are moving into an empty house here in Chattanooga and currently do not have a bed to sleep on or a bed for their two small children (one on the way). I am going to suggest

I appreciate the thought, but I'm battling fleas right now and they suck...

You might also see if there is a Freecycle group in your area. The one in Knoxville is pretty active. Check out http://www.freecycle.org for more info.
