hello! it's been a busy couple of weeks here, and i'm updating so that my slightly addled brain doesn't forget entirely what i've been up to (whoever would have thought that lj would turn out to be a cure for baby-brain

Wow you've put me to shame with all that stuff you've done. I have managed today to pack for the next seven weeks, two of which are in Dubai and five of which are in Southwold. Some stuff (for Southwold) has been packed into the boot of the car (which we now have back in full working order) and John is going to drive it over at some point for a visit. This does mean I only have a few balls of wool with me...not sure how I'm going to cope with that!!
I realise that I haven't updated for a while...might make more of an effort to do that this week as I have wifi and after Weds am only working from about 3pm till 9pm every day (whilst doing 3 shows - it has a running time of 15 mins).
have a fab time in dubai! i guess three 15 min shows isn't too bad (i'm thinking back to ian's london zoo panto, which was about 45 mins three times a day and a nightmare tho, so i'll keep my fingers firmly crossed yours is easier!) - let me know how you're getting on :o)
You have indeed been productive! I managed to partially unpack from my 4th of July holiday away in northern Georgia - but that was because I needed some of the stuff and the rest is in a pile partway out of the suitcase on my bedroom floor!
I love the Shopaholic series - I didn't see the movie though because they made her an American and it just totally wouldn't be the same! She really needs to be a Brit! I haven't read the newest one yet (Mini Shopaholic, I think?). I read Contact a number of years ago and enjoyed it. Don't remember if I ever saw the movie.....
yeah, i haven't seen the movie either. tbh, i kinda read the shopaholic series by default - i like her standalone stuff a lot better, and i find becky bloomwood a bit silly. but i did like the end of shopaholic and baby, where the baby hates all the commercial stuff and her favourite toy is a dishcloth - kind of seemed to get to some anti-consumerism justice there!
(having said that, i have just taken delivery of a rather beautiful large rubber cow, which it could be argued isn't actually on the "necessary for a newborn" list...)
ps re contact - the book is soooo much better than the film - in the film they only send one person, and basically say she's crazy and leave it at that - v disappointing.
I haven't read any of Kinsella's stand alone works though i have some of them. Becky Bloomwood is a bit silly, but following her antics was just a fun, easy read and one book just sorta lead into the next. I'm still working on Good Omens - I'm on 'Saturday' but haven't read a lot lately because of being with family in Georgia. It seems as if we were so busy during the day, then sat on the swing on the screened in porch with a glass of wine in the evening after the kids went to bed. I tried reading a page or two before bed, but that was all I was able to manage before giving in to sleep! I definitely want to get it finished soon though, and then finish up Taste of Honey so I can add that one to my sell bag. Not sure where I'll go next, but I'm thinking of maybe reading Michael Crichton's Pirate Latitudes.
i'm trying to work through everything i've been meaning to read in the next few months - although i have heard tell that feeding time is excellent reading time too! currently reading "little women", which i've never read, but inherited a copy from my gran, which she won as a sunday school prize in 1930 :o)
