Well, we're back on present day Craphole Island after last week's trip to the 1860's, and we got put right back in the mix of the Jacob/Man in Black/Widmore island triple threat. On top of that, the focus of the sideways universe was Jin and Sun.
The episode opened in night vision mode, although I was expecting the T-Rex to eat the goat. Anyways, Flocke got right to business in talking with Jin about the whole mystery regarding "Kwon" (Again, they continue to ignore the fact there is another Kwon out there). It then went to a creepy scene between Flocke and Sayid, where Sayid let out that he basically doesn't have a soul anymore... to which Flocke gave a pretty cynical response. Things didn't go too well after that as Zoe and Widmore's team ambushed everyone, darted them to high hell, and ran off with Jin. Apparently, the rumor is that Zoe is supposed to play a significant role in the final arc of the series. Her name has mythological meaning. Look it up.
Back with Team Jacob, things were still in a flux after Richard's departure. Jack had a little heart to heart with a frustrated Sun, who wasn't really wanting to hear all the Jacob talking points. Turns out, though, Flocke had some talking points to give Sun in the form of more temptation... this time using Jin as the bait. Sun knew better, though, and took a page out of Kate's playbook by running away. Richard made his return to Team Jacob just after we found out Sun lost her ability to speak English but can still understand it. Richard, now fully motivated, hatched his plan to prevent Flocke from leaving the island - blowing up the Ajira plane.
After chasing Sun around, Flocke found the after effects of Widmore's visit to his team. The key effect is that Jin found himself back in Room 23 on Hydra Island (Remember the room where Carl got to watch the crazy Clockwork Orange style film). He had a key conversation with Zoe where it came out that Widmore's team is looking for the EM-Pockets on the island. Back with Flocke, he had a key conversation with Claire about his exit strategy involving the Ajira plane and the remaining 3 candidates that are needed. He then made a trip to the pylon protected Hydra island to confront Widmore once and for all. After some posturing by Widmore, Flocke did some of his own and basically laid the gauntlet down. With Widmore, Jin finally got to see his daugther via a camera Sun brought with her to the island. He also dropped the bit of knowledge that the package on the sub is a who... who just happened to be DESMOND!!!!
Over in the sideways world, we jumped in after Jin's incident at the airport, and we then got confirmation that Sun and Jin aren't married in this universe. The dynamic they shared was Jin escorting Sun to the United States while he carried out Mr. Paik's business. The thing being... the attraction between the two was still there, as evident by the lovely close-up of Ms. Paik's, um, assets. Turns out, Sun still had it in her to leave Korea for Los Angeles, just like before. It also turns out Keamy is still a creep and began the process of explaining how Jin ended up in the freezer. Seems the $25k Jin lost at the airport was supposed to go Keamy as well. Good to see Mikhail make a return as Keamy's translator, even though it didn't keep Jin out of the freezer. In the freezer, Keamy dropped the bomb that Mr. Paik hired Keamy to off Jin for giving Sun the old one-two. The story then picked up with Sayid's involvement, which we've already seen, but then we saw Jin get to confront Mikhail, who ended up losing the eye anyway. Turns out, though, Jin shoots Sun on accident, and she lets him know that she was in fact pregnant.
Line of the night: Miles' incredible line about Richard needing to be in bacon grease for Hurley to track him.
Overall, a decent episode that was more of a set-up than anything. Next week should be good as all the principles - Desmond, included - are in place.
