Caitlin, I am so sorry you are going through this. I do second what Jordan said, though I don't gather you were considering UGA necessarily. Ga State does have a wonderful vocal program and, if that is where you want to go, they should be proud to have you, IMO. You are incredibly talented and I have faith that you will find your place. Don't lose your love of music and singing....really singing...over "technique" issues. I understand what you are talking about though.

Sorry I have no sage advice. I am glad to hear from you, though sorry you are having a rough time. Keep posting so I know how you are!!

transfer. do it. if you loose passion and morivation for singing, then we are ALL doomed. I had to leave armstrong becuse i wasn't happy there, i wansn't challanged, and my studio teacher was trying to make me a high soprano.
And when you said all you can focus on now is technique, I completely understand that. You stand up there, trying so hard to do everything right because your studio teacher is watching your every move, and then you forget to preform. I could really go on forever.

Transfer.

I had serious considerations to transfering elsewhere my 1st year at Tech. However, I found some new friends that I really enjoyed sppending time with. I went in to Tech and I thought I knew exactly what I wanted to be, a chemist. Things change as you grow as a person. While I don't know the slightest about singing and how that relates to you, I can only give you this advice, do what makes you happy. The decision is yours on what to do and with you alone. Either way, I would say you have to decide whether or not you can make it through Newberry and be happy with yourself when you graduate. I would definitely say you should apply for a transfer and think a lot about your decision. When the time comes, you can make your decision
