BE THOUGHTFUL. PLAY NICE.

These aren't necessarilly enforced rules, by any means, but just a set of recommendations to make your roleplaying experience a healthier one.

At the time of writing this, Diamond City Starbeans has been nothing short of a positive, drama-free atmosphere for players. Let's try our best to keep it that way! :)

Interactions:
Have your character(s) get around as much as possible. It's not mandatory to respond to every journal entry posted, especially if someone talks about something your character doesn't care about or can't relate to, but a well-liked player is one who expands interactions as far as possible. Characters can make new friends or enemies outside their canon circle, players can even form some new friendships OOC, and everyone will have something to tag!

On slow days, one could say it's hard to contribute to an inactive game, but it takes contributions to make a game active in the first place. :)

If you like to handle multiple characters, sometimes having a roster with a variety of personalities will give you more options to work with. You see an interesting situation and then it's all up to picking the right party member!

Tags Time!
Everyone tags at different speeds and timeframes. Keep this in mind and observe the habits of your tagmates. A little predictability could spare you from impatient frustration when you're working on more epic logs together.

Sometimes if you're waiting too long to get tagged back, there's nothing wrong with nudging a player through AIM or LJ*PM, reminding him/her to tag. Keep in mind, however, that nudging too constantly is usually frowned upon by the person you're nudging.

Logs
Most people like to see logs go through from start to finish, and it is highly encouraged to finish any logs you start, regardless of how long it takes to complete it. If you have to make a sudden hiatus, let your logmates know. If you're eventually not up to tagging the log anymore, try not to abandon the log. Ask for help if you're stumped on a tag or work with your logmates so you could all arrange a round of final tags for the log to close it off without leaving the sudden cliffhanger.

Open logs are a bit harder to close, but each character's participation pretty much comes to an end when their business is done at the scene and the log can be concluded by the last man or group standing.

Hiatus
Sometimes people go on hiatus. Making a hiatus announcement will let your tagmates/canonmates/whatevermates know that you won't be around and whatever is being worked on will have to be put on hold.

To the non-hiatused: Please respect that hiatused players may have important offline matters to deal with. To the hiatused It's true that IRL is more important than a roleplaying game, but don't forget that your fellow players are still real people who can get just as offended when put aside like CPU characters, as you yourself can get offended when your serious business isn't taken seriously.

Neither that "I have a life" side nor the "I'm a super dedicated tagger" side reigns better than the other. Everyone is equal and communication is the key to balance and working with one another

Relationships
Shipping is a wonderful thing, but can lead to some awkward moments between players in a variety of ways, from a player already having shipping plans with someone else or just not being the romantic type. Sometimes ships just click naturally, but if something looks like a potential ship and becomes a questionable one, speak to the player whose character yours is interacting with and straighten things out.

Smut/Violation/Mature stuff
Currently this game is leaning towards discouraging on-screen explicit sex scenes, but in the case of that or any form of sexual tension/violation between characters, make sure the player you're working with is okay with it first, just in case the player may be uncomfortable around it.

If you are, it's really nothing to be ashamed of!

Of course, anyone entering an open log with any kind of mature content is doing it at their own risk. Please rate your logs accordingly. If you don't know where a log will go and it looks only G-rated so far, leave it as so, but be prepared to change the rating if things heat up and swear words start flying!

Farewell
Players who drop their characters can still tie up loose ends in any unfinished logs or other interactions if desired. Leaving the game does not mean your banned, unless you actually WERE banned. Also, players who leave the game should still be respected as part of the community.
