psa: my computer takes about twelve minutes to reply any generic email, because delayed write fail errors keep making it freeze-unfreeze every few letters i type. 8D using dad's old laptop atm; though, while he isn't exactly using it anymore, reading/ficcing it is still... slightly awkward. :3 so i am sort of on hiatus. ish. or at any rate, apologies if i am also kind of fail with comments and posting.
ANYWAY, this is first out of what will be a five-set mixed bag for
snowqueenofhoth in exchange for her letting me stay in her closet for five nights in tokyo. :D (it was a five-star closet, too.)

It was barely dawn when Nikaido awoke, eyes blurred and brain fuzzy. Beside him, Senga lay curled up in a ball, his fluffy brown tail poking out from under the covers and one ear twitching every now and again. Nikaido smiled. He hoped Senga was dreaming something good.
From the peaceful look on his face, he probably was.
Content, Nikaido let his eyes slip back shut. He felt lucky. Lucky to have Senga, and lucky that Senga was who Senga was-even if he seemed to know a lot of grown-up things already. (Well, if Nikaido was honest, he didn't even really mind what Senga knew. It was pretty cool, and didn't feel too bad.)
He'd heard of bond pairs-and even knew a couple-who were years apart in age, and it was always weird to watch them even if they seemed to turn out okay in the end. While Nikaido was pretty sure he'd like Senga no matter what, it was pretty neat that they could talk about things like their favourite shows and manga and like exactly the same kinds of things.
Senga, Nikaido felt, was special. And Nikaido, Nikaido decided, was going to protect him.
He knew fighters, too, who did whatever they were ordered no matter what. Even if it hurt them, and worse-even if it hurt their sacrifice. They were supposed to be the best kind of fighter, but Nikaido didn't buy that bullshit. He wasn't going to be like that.
Glancing over at Senga again, Nikaido decided he was going to be better.
No matter what Senga said, Nikaido was going to be able to tell what he really wanted. And no matter what Senga asked for, Nikaido's number one rule would be to never, ever, ever make Senga sad.
I promise, he thought to himself, watching Senga sleep. And then whispered it aloud for the world to bear witness: (( I will never let you hurt. ))
*
"Nikaido Takeshhh~" Senga whispered, hands planted on either side of Nikaido's head. He leaned down close. "Nikaiiido Takeshhh~"
It wasn't late enough that they were going to miss any class yet, but Nikaido had been sleeping for a long time. Senga wasn't bored exactly, but…
Nikaido screwed up his nose a little, brows drawing as he roused, and Senga's tail curled happily at the tip.
"…wh' thll…" Nikaido muttered.
"Good morning, Nika~" Senga whispered. He liked Nikaido.
Nikaido, Senga thought, was just like all Senga's other friends back home in Nagoya. And Senga, Senga decided, was very lucky to have him because there was no way he'd feel homesick this way.
"Nikaido Takeshhhh~"
This time Nikaido's eyes flew open, startled. "What the hell!"
Senga laughed, sitting back. "Geez, finally! I was thinking you were in a coma or something."
Nikaido glanced at his clock. "It's-we've still got like, an hour 'til class!" he protested. "What the hell is wrong with you!"
"Is there stuff?" Senga asked, tilting his head. He grinned. "I was just thinking, you know…"
Nikaido looked dubious somehow, sitting up and rubbing at his eyes. "Really."
"Yeah." Senga's ear flicked left. "How, y'know, you said last night that if I really, really wanted it…"
"Then it's my job to make it happen," Nikaido finished. "First thing about fighters and sacrifices."
Senga nodded.
"Yeah, and?" Nikaido prompted. He leaned back on his arms and looked at Senga in an adorable kind of way that made Senga wonder why he'd bothered thinking so much about all this last night and this morning.
Earnestly, he sat forward again. "I was kind of thinking, I kind of want your ears. Okay?"
"Is that all?" Nikaido scoffed. "That's a stupid wish. Think of something else."
Senga stared, taken aback. He'd thought hard about the request-that-he-really-wanted-so-Nikaido-would-have-to-do-it. And now Nikaido wasn't going to? "Why's it stupid? I already have you, so."
"You already have me, so obviously you already have my ears, too." Nikaido rolled his eyes. "Duh."
Senga drew his knees up to his chest and pouted over the top of them. "Meanie. But I want them now!"
"I am not a meanie," Nikaido said, narrowing his gaze. He eyed Senga and Senga eyed him petulantly back. Nikaido added, "Anyway, wouldn't your mom kill me?"
"Huh?" Senga blinked, surprised again. They were Shameless, what did it matter? He didn't say it aloud, but…
"Tcht," Nikaido said, looking away. He stared kind of crossly at the opposite wall. "My mom told me to be careful about that, you know. Not that I care what she says or like, anyone else either. But I don't want you getting in trouble just 'cause we do something like this, okay? That'd be totally uncool."
Senga stared then slowly smiled. "You're pretty grown up, Nika~"
"I am not," Nikaido insisted. "It's just like, what if your mom doesn't like the idea that the day after she signs you up to boarding school, you lose your ears?"
Senga laughed. "But if it's with you, it shouldn't matter right?"
"We're not exactly old like Micchan, you know," Nikaido frowned. "She doesn't even know who I am! I haven't even met her yet!"
Giggling, Senga admitted, "Well, I guess maybe she'd like to meet you first."
Nikaido snorted. "'I guess'?"
"Yeah~" Senga smiled, and crawled up the bed, back up Nikaido's body so Nikaido had to lie down again. "She'll like you though, don't worry. I know she will. 'Cause I do."
The faintest blush appeared over Nikaido's cheeks then, though he rolled his eyes all false bravado. "Of course she'll like me. What's not to like?"
"I dunno," Senga said and leaned down. "Kiss me, Nika? We'll keep our ears for now, I promise, so…"
Without hesitation, Nikaido leaned up and pressed their lips together, softly at first, then taking more when Senga opened his mouth. Senga hummed happily, tail and toes curling at the warm sensation. He rolled onto his side on the bed and Nikaido followed so that they faced each other.
Senga smiled. "You kiss like you like me, Nika."
Nikaido gave a snort. "That's 'cause I do."
"Mm~" Senga leaned forward to reciprocate with his heart, pleased when Nikaido melted into him. It was warm and felt good in all the right places, but Senga knew how to make them feel even better.
Reaching down, he slipped his hand under the waistband of his pyjamas, groaning softly at the familiar touch of his fingers.
Familiar touch, different circumstance.
He felt Nikaido's surprise and the accusation in his voice, "You said-!"
"We won't lose them this way," Senga mumbled. "I promise."
"How do you know that?" Nikaido demanded.
"I just know," Senga told him, remembering what Nikaido had said the night before about senpai things he didn't want to hear. "Please, Nika? Do it with me?"
"I…"
"Mm~" Senga looked at Nikaido through half-lidded eyes and smiled, feeling all soft and affectionate. "It already feels real good pretending it's you. I bet it's gonna… feel even better when we actually… ah."
The little sounds Nikaido started making when he touched himself felt like they went straight through Senga's soul, gasps and whines all quiet and oddly… needy. They sent shivers down Senga's spine, the way they sounded and made him feel completely unlike what he'd ever felt with anyone before. This time felt different-Nikaido felt different. Special.
And Senga had a weird thought then, wishing that Nikaido wouldn't ever do this with anybody else. That it would only be with Senga…
The thought swelled in his heart, and Senga leaned in and kissed Nikaido again, catching those sounds with his mouth and keeping them for himself. He closed his eyes and imagined that it was Nikaido in his hand, that he felt the same but not quite. He imagined what Nikaido's long fingers would feel like around him, the touch of them probably warm and gentle, maybe a bit unsure at first, but full of so much like, exactly the way he kissed but even better.
Impatient for that day, Senga kissed Nikaido harder, all his feelings welling up, and Nikaido's cry as he came sent tingly sparks across Senga's skin; the wave of it that he could feel somehow, like they were connected, flashed over him and with a gasp Senga shuddered himself out into his hand.
Glancing sheepishly up again when his heart had slowed a little, about to apologise, the words caught in Senga's mouth at the intense look on Nikaido's face-all at once like Senga was the most precious thing in his world that he'd never, ever, ever let go.
"Kento," Nikaido said, voice tight and fragile at the edges. His eyes looked like glass. "I…"
"I love you, Nika," Senga breathed, and kissed Nikaido again. "Takashi. I love you, I want you, I can't wait to have you." He smiled at the shivers he could feel his voice cause under Nikaido's skin, the way Nikaido's breath caught completely. Words, Senga supposed, really did have power.
"I told you, you have me already," Nikaido said, but it lacked any sort of bite.
Senga beamed. "I know. But I mean, like… you know. One day I'll have you every single way."
*OMAKE
After having to clean up and have a shower, and then clean up from the water fight that happened after that, Shameless were left with barely five minutes to get dressed, grab their things, and sprint to first period. Thankfully, it was just Takizawa's spells class again.
Or maybe not thankfully, seeing as they'd already been late and disrupted everything yesterday.
Nikaido still hadn't found his books.
"I can't find my deo!" Senga wailed. "I swear I packed it!"
"What do you even need deo for? It's like first thing in the morning and today's not even hot," Nikaido scoffed.
"No, it's important to me!" Senga fretted.
"So we'll make your big brother Micchan drive us down to the combini at the station or whatever later, okay? Let's go already."
Senga blinked, surprised. "Hey, Mitsu has a car? That's super cool!"
Nikaido rolled his eyes, not caring much for Senga's adoring tone. "I told you he's an old geezer."
"Mean, Nika!" Senga said. "You're just jealous."
"Shut up and let's go!" Nikaido yanked on one of Senga's ears, making Senga yelp-then dissolve into laugher. "What!" Nikaido demanded.
"Hey, they're really staying~" Senga laughed. "Our ears."
Nikaido stared at him. "You said we wouldn't lose them! You promised! Didn't you know for sure before you-"
"I mostly knew! I mostly knew!" Senga protested, amused by the scandalized look on Nikaido's face. "But, you know… it felt different with Nika, so…"
Nikaido's cheeks flushed again at Senga's coy smile and he turned away. "Moron, you're a total health hazard," he said. Though not without a smile of his own. "Let's go before Tackey canes us."
