Salvation Army sucks.

I waited the entire day for them to come and pick up a whole bunch of stuff (including furniture) to donate. Working from home is not a privilege that I want to abuse, and so I was reluctant to do that today. But I wanted to get rid of this stuff, and I was counting on them coming because I had scheduled this appointment weeks ago. I called them ( Read more... )

Salvation Army isn't really the best place to donate to...

Wow - obviously I was oblivious. Although, the only reason I picked them is because they will come pick up your donations. Actually... since they never made it to my place, I question whether that's true. But they have a truck that's supposed to pick up your donations.

I'm taking my stuff to Goodwill. Too bad I'll have to rent a truck to carry the bookcase and dresser!

They're not all bad, but they're a church first, charity second, so you have incidents like threatening to shut down soup kitchens in NYC if it allowed gay unions, etc.

I'm surprised no one else does pickups, though... that's pretty lousy.
