I would never go back to my childhood. Being an adult means having the power to make decisions for yourself. I like that everything I do is by my choice and mine alone. That's freedom. I wouldn't trade it for anything, and I am far, far happier for having it.
As to your second poem, I was abused as a child and felt much this same way until I finally got effective therapy a little over a decade ago. Unfortunately, this was after years wasted in ineffective therapy and on useless and damaging psychoactive "medications" prescribed by clueless psychiatrists. It took a long time and a lot of hard work, but it was definitely worth finding an effective therapist and I'm proud of myself and glad that I persevered until I did. Now, I finally have the happiness that I deserve.
