whaaat? Merlin and Percy Jackson fusion bunny of doom.

This entire entry is about the Percy Jackson books and the BBC Merlin television series. Just fair warning, it might not make a lot of sense unless you're familiar with both.

So I'm slowly re-reading the Percy Jackson books, have I mentioned this? (OMG THE MOVIE THIS WEEKEND, SQUEE!) Anyway, I am re-reading them, but pretty much only on my lunch breaks at work, so that I can stretch them out, and also not carry the books back and forth in my bag every day. Anyway, over the past few days as I have been pondering the books, I got an enormous plot bunny for a Merlin and the Olympians fusion type fic! Think about it, its so perfect:

So Merlin would be a son of Zeus, obvs, I mean he was even named after a bird! Plus, what are his powers that we've seen on the show? Moving shit around (IN THE AIR) and lightning of death! ITS PERFECT. Plus, he's abnormally powerful, which would make sense for a child of the Big Three. Plus, I feel like Thalia got some weak-ass powers for being Zeus's daughter, I mean, isn't he supposed to be in charge of all the other gods? And she just has a shield and can static shock people. THAT SHIT IS LAME. Percy can do all kinds of cool stuff and Nico has awesomely badass powers. Thalia's powers should have been more like Merlin's (can you see how I came up with this whole idea now?).

Anywho, so Zeus could have totally fallen for Hunith, she's amazing, and then she has Merlin. Merlin's best friend Will? TOTES WOULD HAVE TO BE A SATYR, AMIRITE? Plus, I think it would suit him. And then once Merlin realizes his identity he would attract even more monsters, so they decide to head out to Olympus, which would have to be at Camelot, natch!

Now, it was obvious to me that Morgana would also be a half-blood, but I debated on whether or not Arthur would be a mortal. Then as I was making my way through the Titan's Curse today at lunch, I was reminded that half-bloods = HEROES, and I don't think anyone could deny that Arthur is a hero, so I thought it would be very appropriate if he were a son of Athena. He is smarter than he acts, and Athena was also the goddess of warfare and strategy (not to be confused with Ares, god of war, murder and bloodshed). And he has the blonde thing going on, which shouldn't really make a difference, I guess, but I also liked that it drew more parallels to the book by having the main characters be a Big3 and Athena. And perhaps being some sort of brain baby could make Uther all bitter and hateful of half-bloods (he loved her, but she didn't even let him tap that and then dumped a baby on him and peaced out, that would make me a lil bitter), and he would probably keep Arthur's parentage a secret.

Morgana's powers in the show so far are pretty specific - prophetic dreams, which clearly fall into Apollo's territory. However, I'm a little sad that her parent that we know of (Gorlois) is the wrong gender to technically make it work out that she is a daughter of Apollo, but we can skim over that. And if the other 3 of the OT4 are half-bloods, then it is clear to me that Gwen is a daughter of Hephaestus! But she has the same parent gender problem as Morgana, since her parent that we know of is Tom. Although she hasn't been doing much blacksmithing lately (or being in the plot lately), so maybe she would be a daughter of Antheia, (minor) goddess of flowers, LOL.

Its just too convenient that the entire OT4 have single parents (or no parents, in Morgana's case). I can't quite work out how Gaius would be involved, I mean, I would still want him to be a mentor for Merlin, but he's no Chiron. Maybe he'd just have to settle for being Uncle Gaius. Um, anyway, I don't really have a plot for this idea at all, but I've got the setup! haha. Maybe they just have to help Arthur discover the truth, maybe the gods are mad at Uther and they try to get him to resume paying tribute to them, idk.
