Rachy visits and we get tattoos

Jul 17, 2011 20:09

For the past four days I have had the pleasure of eraticschematic's company. There is nothing like when your bestie comes to visit, is there? But alas, she left this morning.

During her visit we:
1. Got tattoos
2. Saw Harry Potter twice
3. Existed in a state of pure awesome

Here is my tattoo:

Beautiful tat! I've always one on the inside of my wrist. Did it hurt a lot?

It did hurt, but it was over very quickly, and there wasn't anything to "fill in," so I think that helped.

That's a really cool tattoo. And I think you're really brave for having it done there, largely because I expect it hurt like crazy.

For ages I wanted to get some stars on my hip. They were going to be Orion and Sirius and I was going to get one done for every year I'd survived at university. I'm still considering it, but worried about how much my body shape will change over the years so it will look nothing like the constellations in 30 years :D

And if that is your handwriting I'm really jealous. Mine is nowhere near as pretty :)

xx

Thanks! It went through patches of hurting a lot and hurting not so much, probably like most other tattoos.

Awww yeah, i have a tattoo on my hip, and I'm not gonna lie, it kinda looks like shit now. I gained a lot of weight after I got it, and it has a stretch mark through the middle now. But it doesn't bother me too much, and its in such a place that if someone gets to see it, they probably already like me a lot. haha. I guess what I'm trying to say is that yes, they will change, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't get them there. You do you, bb.

It's kinda my handwriting except that I don't curl my t's and my a's don't have the overhanging stem usually. But that's how I write when I want it to look a bit more whimsical. :D

LOVE the tattoo! I *really* want my next one on the inside of my left wrist as well, and like you did, I keep debating about it. My profession (stupidly) frowns upon them somewhat fiercely, and I kind of hate wearing a wrist-watch. I've been toying with the idea of getting it done in a light brown ink so it wouldn't be so visible, and then just rocking bracelets! Gah, it's such a tough decision! You inspire me!

OMG it really really was a tough decision. But I knew that I didn't want this one anywhere else. And I don't know about nursing in particular, but I feel like people everywhere are becoming a lot more relaxed about tattoos. And yes, I think bracelets are still going to be my best friend.

What do you want to get on your wrist? I think a light brown tattoo would look awesome, but at the same time, if you really want black then it sucks to feel like you had to compromise. You are getting it forever, so you want it to be exactly right!

I want it to say "Never grow a wishbone where a backbone should be" in a typewriter font. I'm pretty open to the idea of different colored ink, but you're right: it needs to be perfect! I also really love white ink tattoos, but the inside of my wrist would not be the best place for that :P

How bad did it hurt? I've heard wrists hurt really bad!

OH OH as someone who wanted to get a wrist tattoo and was heading towards the nursing profession, I feel like I can give you some advice on this.

You'll want to keep it covered up for job interviews, but once you get on the floor, I feel like very few people care. At least in California. Especially as there are younger nurses coming into the field , the establishment has to compromise. But at the same time, it depends if you work for a private hospital/agency because they can make up their own rules, you know?
