Thanks :) We're going to be on the ocean, in a town called recife. It's right on the part that bumps out, and the amazon is unfortunately a bit far away.
A friend warned me that the seafood will probably still have heads attached... is there anything else I should know? :)
Very important...do NOT wave with your hand open and moving your fingers up and down (like a scratching motion)...this is a major sexual come on down there. No, I am not kidding...we were told it was sexual, but we thought not too bad...and got a really dirty look from a mother when one of us waved at her 6 year-old son that way. Just remember to always wave with your arm and not your fingers and you'll be ok! Men will most likely not wave back, but will give you a thumbs up. This is a male thing and ok.
"Thank you" is obrigada. "You're welcome" is de nada (pronounced je nada). "Good day" is bom dia (m is silent so sounds like "bo gia" d's are like j's at the beginning of a word). And finally, "good night" is boa noches...pronounced boa noiches.
