A Genuine Celebration - continued.

I wrote yesterday but didn’t even reach the halfway point, so rich and detailed were the memories shared with us.

I found my treasured photo of DWJ, taken a decade ago, after a pub meet, when the whole group of us went to do the Witch Dance on Clifton Bridge. It seemed the right thing to do at the time.

*sigh* That sounds so wonderful. Thank you so much for transcribing it all so beautifully, even if it did make me sniffle slightly, here in my college office (luckily the door is closed).

Yes, there were lumps in many throats. Ursula's reading was superb.

Thank you so much for posting these. I'm an American currently in Cambridge but couldn't get away from work to get to the memorial. It sounds like a truly lovely day. And I know what you mean about noticing the land and thinking of Diana's writing -- it's been absolutely lovely thinking "Aha!" at things she's described in the books. I could almost see the bounds of fields of care all over the Welsh countryside when I came through on the train, for example. I didn't make it out to see a bluebell wood but I can understand Abdullah's love of them, being here in this small green country for the first time.

Again, thank you. It sounds like a beautiful way to remember one of my favorite authors in all the universe. I'm a little saddened, though, to hear that her son felt Homeward Bounders was so honest a book -- it was heartbreaking. Fascinating though.

Bluebell woods will be available pretty much anywhere within a few weeks - look out for them!

Thank you for your kind comment - I'm glad you enjoyed reading.

Alas, I'm only in the UK another week (and London for part of that, where bluebells seem a bit thin on the ground). :(

No, thank you again :)

Could you get to Osterley Park? http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/osterley-park/

It's in London, and they are running bluebell tours next weekend, so I assume the woods are coming to their peak now. The bluebells are definitely out already all along the South coast, so are probably if anything a bit ahead in London, which is usually just that bit warmer.
