Usual locks

Is it me, or is there a lingering scent of ammonia in the corridors?

Does this have anything to do with what that deranged Bellatrix woman was interweb-yelling about. Exploding dung? Impressive dietary faux-pas if true.

Locked to Diane Archer, Luna Lovegood and Padma Patil. val_visconti September 13 2006, 18:43:36 UTC
This is an interesting and valid question, and a fascinating subject.

If we are to be working together, we need to know our weaknesses as well as our strengths.
It is no secret, I think, especially after recent events, that I have known only too well what it is to be addicted to dark magic, in the past.
I can therefore offer this viewpoint from personal experience.

'Normal' magic is a way of life, yes, rather than an addiction.
With normal magic, once the spell has been cast, it is finish.
If I cast Lumos for example, I do not immediately feel any compulsion to repeat it. There is no pull, no heady flare of power. This does not make me feel as though I can control the world, and neither does it become as though it is controlling meWith dark magic, the focus is very different. The feel is very different. I could name any number of dark spells which leave the caster wanting to experience again. There is always a price, and this price is often the addiction. The blueblack flame, it devours you. Hi Diane.

Er, right. I hadn't really thought too much about the workshops. We should probably work out something between us.
Perhaps we can split the group into two, and have half of them practising shielding or dodging spells, and the other half practising offensive spells?
I don't even know how many will turn up.
What do you think?

Harry.

I meant to answer this when I first saw your question but I got...distracted. I don't believe the wand registry affects squibs at all. Certainly the current administration at the Ministry gives no thought to those in our community with such severe magical limitations. Most squibs don't own wands. The wands would do them no good unless they fancied them as expensive hair ornaments. If they could generate enough magic to focus through a wand then they would not be classified as squibs.

So, the Ministry actually can't track Squib movements or purchases like they can everyone else. That is interesting, thank you, Madam Pince.

As I understand it, they can't track anyone who doesn't use a registered wand. I imagine they don't think they need to. I wonder if that will prove to be an accurate assumption? A very interesting point, Miss Archer.
