I love this piece from Vulture on what makes Mad Men great. It's not surprising that I love it, since it sums up why I watch a lot of shows. And why I don't understand when other people complain that "nothing is happening" when I am content to just sit and watch humanity unfold.

It's not the way to watch TV for everyone, but it is for me. :)

I think that was the problem I had with Mad Men in the beginning. It seemed so slow and boring, but the more eps I watched, the more involved I became, and I think MM is amazing now. So much so that I now own all four seasons on Blu-ray, haha.

You know, we've never actually met and I got here through a friend, and I don't even watch TV all that much--I'd like to, but grad school--but I still really enjoy reading your posts. :) It's good to see them around again.

Also, congrats on the West Coast move. It's true that no place is New York, but SF has its charms.

I only watched the first couple episodes of Mad Men so I'm not sure how qualified I am to comment but part of the reason I didn't continue with the series is that I didn't see the point to it. I don't need to have ALL THE THINGS happening all the time but I do like my shows to have a purpose - why these characters, why now, etc - which I didn't feel in those first few episodes. Maybe I'll give it another go at some point given how much love it gets, but for now I've got other things much higher on the list.
