So Pat's dad is in the hospital. Canadian's are strange people. His brother calls me to tell me (while I'm at work, I should add) that's pat's dad is in the hospital, they don't know what's wrong, and he's in bad shape

Hehehe, the people from our 51st state are different. Certainly they could excuse your thoughtfulness as some strange cultural difference. Like, anytime you do something strange they could just shrug their shoulders and mutter "Americans!". Over here, flowers don't mean you are sick. They just mean someone was thinking of you. That is never an insult. Maybe just send the flowers anyways with a cute explanation of silly American customs. Give Pat a big hug for me. You didn't say how he is taking this. I hope he and his father and his family are okay.
Pat's good. I called him at work to tell him. He was not happy I called him at work to tell him. He thought I should have waited. My view was, I would rather he know from me...if something was REALLY bad...than hearing it 4 hours later when he got home from some randomn family member...laugh His dad's actually doing much better, should be going home tomorrow, the anitbiotics knocked the shit out of it. Thanks for asking! I will give him BIG huggles from you :)
I'd send flowers too :p. For about 2years of my highshool life, Mum got a host of superviruses all at once and it wrecked her entire system.. she wound up with that panic disorder where they honestly thing they're dying of a heart attack. Course it wasn't taken seriously, or diagnosed properly at the time, so we spent 2 years hanging on a knife edge thinking mum was going to die of a heart attack at any time. Moral of the story, pride can go to hell at worrying times.. cause you'd rather let them know you love them and are thinking of them while you can :). Mum used to get SO mad that i'd just skip school some days to spend time with her.. figured i'd rather take that, than not spend the time while it was still spendable. Big hugs to you and Pat though, its never easy having family in hospital.
Laugh, you too? My mom had to stop telling me when she was taking a day off, because I would play sick to stay home with her. I didn't know that's why I was doing it at the time, would just get a bad bad tummy ache mysteriously when I knew she would be home, and spend the day with her. Lol.
