(The clever ones know that this post will contain spoilers for all we've seen of Torchwood so far. I'm just not seeing why I should make a cut, sorry. And I'm leaving this post public just in case someone stumbles across it. I won't change my opinion about this ( Read more... )

This is a real open post. You know that I don't like some things in series 3, but as you already said.. it was totally thrilling, well written and shows fantastic skill of all the actors taking part. I don't hate that whole show now and I will carry on being a fan. I just don't see any point in another series and yeah then they stopped it at its peak which is really a clever thing. Better than fans complaining of how boring the show's going to be and stop watching it. It's just such a depressing series, especially the last 2 days. Well, I can't re-watch this series at the moment, it's all too sad. I sure will do one day and going to buy the DVD when it's cheaper. So for me TW has not died as for some others

I simly think that they should better end it now than bringing a totally different show back. That's just my opinion on it at the moment. I could live with the fact that that's it for the Torchwood series.

Exactly. It was depressing and cruel and gruesome but all in all such a fantastic mini series. I love almost everything about it.

And yep, Jack has become very Doctor-ish. I pointed that out in my episode review yesterday. He already was very Doctor-ish in Doctor Who series one and I think he's most like him when he turns and runs. That's what the Doctor would have done.

Hm, I just don't think it would work out with another series. We'd have Gwen (as a mother now) and probably Lois. And I'm sorry, I just can't look at Gwen as a leader. True, she developed quite a lot but I don't think she's got great skills to lead a team.
Also, it would probably cheapen this wonderfully heartbreaking ending of Torchwood.
Still, as I said, I'd watch it. Just for the sake of it, just to see how they'll manage now.

*applause*
I hate it when most of a fandom collectively bashes their show. Basically just because they don't like recent plot development. Most of the time, as you said, it's an insult to the writers, producers, etc.

Then again, there are shows that used to be fabulous and need to die. *cough-Grey's Anatomy-cough*

Exactly. And I don't see why they are attacking the writers now. They should have done that during series one, but nooo it was all right for them, they had their perfect little world and it worked out for them.
It's just the fact that they go nuts once one aspect they particularly liked is gone, that makes me angry and sad. These are not fans, in my eyes.

Haha, I never watched Grey's Anatomy. My parents do but they also say they are only still watching it because they loved it when it was still great. It's all about soap opera drama now, isn't it?

You're so right. Yet, they think they are. I think true fans should appreciate the show, as a whole, and recognize all the work that goes into it. Instead of just being "omg" over whatever.

Be glad. Be very glad. It's like the train wrek you can't look away from. I've watched it from the beginning and I loved it. But now, I'm actually hoping characters die.
But yeah, it's drama, drama, drama. And, for some reason, there's always a season for shows here when they get really weird and completely unbelievable. After that, there's just no going back. And Grey's is beyond that.

Now the spinoff--Private Practice? I love it! That show actually made me love a character who was a complete witch on Grey's. (She's reformed.)
Not to mention there's Chris Lowell. His character has depth. It's a nice change. ;)

Yeah. I still think you are a fan if you criticise the show. That is perfectly fine, that's what fans are for! Not just mindless followers and yes men. But the way "fandom" is acting right now is just not normal. I just heard a friend say that she read that (wow, many "that"s in one sentence) will threaten RTD on the next Comic Con. Hello? People are sick.

Haha, now I remember that I wanted to tell you that I spotted him in Private Practice as well! My parents are watching that too and when I got to the living room while they watched I started to grin when I saw him xD But I still think he played an idiot in Veronica Mars.

YES YES YES.
This is EXACTLY how I feel. I don't see why so many people hate the show when it's so damn FANTASTIC. I know this is often said as a joke, but I really, truly, do watch for the plot. NO, SERIOUSLY. I don't watch for the slash. I don't watch for OMG HOT JACK. I watch for the plot. So there, haters.

Exactamundo. I mean, I didn't turn and run away when they got rid of Rose (the first time xD). I think that's comparable with the Jack/Ianto thing people like.
And you're just so right. The plot. The concept of it. That's what makes it interesting.

Very well said. I think there's absolutely nothing I can add to that. You're so very right.
