Qustion for those who lift weights...

May 05, 2008 14:02

I'm just getting back into lifting weights. Been doing dumbell curls and other exercises consistently for about 4-5 weeks... 'bout to setup the bench again and start pressing again. My max. benchpress (at one time) was around 220. Would like to get back up there again ^^

Anywho, I'm just wondering... how much can you guys bench?

I've tried lifting weights again recently...I'm up to 35 lbs. By the way, how do you prevent those aches that happen about a day after you lift weights?

Sounds like you haven't lifted in a while. My only suggestion is to maybe talk to someone (like a coach or a weights instructor) to make sure you're lifting properly. If you are, just take it slow as possible.

*hugs*

Those aches are caused by acid buildup in your muscles, there isn't anything you can do to really get rid of it except exercise more. The exercise will bring more blood to your muscles again, and help get rid of the acid. It's completely normal. Just do some cardio and work-out, s'only way to get over it.

Ah, cool ^^

I didn't know the exact source of the pains one might feel from lifting. Didn't know it came from acids.

God knows, I haven't benched anything since high school. My flimsy little arms could probably barely push up the air :P

I haven't tried bench press stuff, but I now do hammer press stuff with 45 on each arm.

When I did my benching I think I had about 100lbs on. But I did about 3 sets of 12 or something.
