fresh perspectives

From the age of 7 I have reveled in the act of changing my living space. In Florida I had a spacious room with bright yellow shag carpet and a wall of windows with sheer white golden starred curtains that, on lazy Sunday afternoons, I’d lie on my similarly canopied bed and watch blow in the humid breeze. The furniture was Sears’ answer to a ( Read more... )

Since we share this passion for interior makeovers, this post really resonated with me. I, too, have always been obsessed with rearranging, reorganizing, purging, replenishing, and overhauling room moods with color and style changes. Most the furniture we have at home doesn't allow for this luxury, so I address this need by attending to more of the "reorganizing, purging, replenishing" aspects, by making slight shifts in room mood through such endeavors. It's just enough to make me feel like I'm doing something. Our recent meditation room project was the biggest and most dramatic overhaul to happen, ever.

My list now contains: window dressings (still haven't given them much thought), a kitchen re-do (major), and the carving-out of a den at the end of the hallway (also major). Oh, and let's not forget the master bedroom re-do (flooring and walls)!! Major, major, major. *sighs* at least these things not being done gives me something to fantasize about! I have yet to see your fantastic meditation room redo! Your house has such wonderful flow and good bones. It must be a joy to play with :-) That spectacular red couch is a favorite.

Is "carving out" a literal turn of phase? Planning on knocking out a closet or something?

Yes, please do pop over when you wish and tell me your impressions! Love to hear them.

The meditation room re-do was dramatic, but it was just paint on the walls! That shows you the extent of our current efforts. =) Yes, the den project would require a literal carving-out--of the linen closet at the end of the hall. There's a tiny bit of space behind it on that side of the house, maybe just enough for a desk, a bookshelf, and some accessories. We'll see if we ever get around to getting an estimate. =)

I'll try to come by the clinic sometime soon!
