My day actually started yesterday. I got up around 0630 EST and drove down the road for about 15 mins to a Wyoming Port of Entry. When I got there and showed him my paperwork and stuff, the Bear told me that I80 westbound was closed due to white out conditions, and said that I could wait for them to open it out in the Port of Entry's parking lot, or continue on to a truckstop.
At first, I was just gonna wait at the Port of Entry, but they didn't have WIFI there, and SimCity 3000 can get boring after awhile. So, I decided to go back to the truckstop I was at before. By this time, it was about 1100 EST. Because there were several optimal parking spaces now, I was able to access TA's WIFI with better signal.
I ended up spending most of my day chatting with Kimaru, and even Jacel showed up and chatted awhile.
At about 1830 EST, I decided to nap, and nap I did, until 1930 EST. And, from that point, I drove until about 0400 this morning. I suppose I could've gone farther, but there's no truckstops in Wendover, UT, according to my truckstop guide. I didn't want to end up parking somewhere not really for parking trucks.
That, and I wanted a WIFI connection to, erm, 'spend time' with Devlin. And it was good.
The weather was alright throughout Wyoming, though there were still patches of blowing snow. It kinda made things have an eerie undertone. Utah was a little worse, at least, where the roads are concerned. There were several spots with packed snow, but not quite iced over. Yet.
Some thoughts:
~Western Wyoming and northeastern Utah need more radio stations or something. I spent several hours with my radio set to scan the channels for a signal, and all I got was 2 Mexican stations, a Bible-thumper station, and 2 country stations.
~I did hear reports on Bush's speach over yonder in Annapolis, MD. Though I'm not politically aligned and don't really care what our selected president does with himself, I do agree with one thing about his speech, the part about an early withdrawal making the US seem weak to our enemies. I can just see them now, laughing it up because they scared the mighty US away. We'd be the laughing stock of our allies, and a sitting duck for our enemies. I'm reminded of the bumper sticker featuring a full colored flag and a caption that says, "These colors don't run!"As for the troops that lost their lives in this war, aye, it's tragic, but let's not forget that said troops were consenting adults who signed a contract that stated they know that they could be injured and/or killed by joining the Armed Forces.
Alrighty. Now I'm gonna go to bed. Silly dragryphon has to be up in 7 hours.
Goodnight!
