I'm playing FFXII whenever I get the chance.

I'm over 100 hours in, but pretty close to completing everything.

When I'm playing I usually forget whatever it was I was trying to do, and I just wander an area farming loot that I don't need.

I like it so far.

As in past Final Fantasies, I have a habit of slowing down the storyline by leveling up far more than I need to, then blowing through it for a while before stopping again.

The problem is sometimes I get bored by doing this for too long, so I take a break for a while, then continue on.

From what I've seen, it seems XII is a bit lacking in side quests. Sure there are the hunts and such, but it looks like those and the Espers are the main side quests. Of course, I haven't got far enough to really work on any of them, so maybe they're all more involved than they seem.

Yeah, that's exactly what I've done. Way too much time leveling, and sadly, leveling in spots that aren't optimal leveling spots.

For example, in the Ogir-Yensa Sandsea, I spent a bunch of time getting a 500 chain on the little jawa things. Ugh. The loot isn't even good.

I don't know how far you are, but I recommend holding off on the LP farming until you can get Golden Amulets, and the XP farming until you can get the Embroidered Tippets... Much more efficient...

I spent many hours getting all of the items I needed for the greatsword Tournesol, and that was really annoying, so I had to take a break. Picked up Rogue Galaxy, because I wanted to play an RPG that had a nice active battle for awhile...

Yeah, I'm trying to hold off on the heavy grinding until I get those, but I still cannot resist the occasional two or three hour sessions of nothing but killing. Which means at the earlier stages of the game, and with decent gambits, all you do is steer.

Is the music that plays while on the screen where you choose which game file to load from another FF? I know I recognize it, and I'm thinking it's the finale from FFVI, but I hope not, because that would just be cheesy.
