I've been looking at some prices for a good but not completely top-of-the-line computer.

What I'm looking at so far:

Barebones kits from TigerDirect:
Asus mobo barebones
XFX nForce 680i LT SLI moboBoth of these have a case that is a bit flashy for me, but I don't care much about what the damn thing looks like, I want it to run well ( Read more... )

After looking over your stuff, I think you have a good start...

I'm not sure about the HDD though...

I would recommend something more like Western Digital Caviar SE16 500GB Hard Drive

For $25 more you get double the space. The Seagate is $0.30 per GB, while the Western Digital is $0.20 per GB.

Good choice in video cards. That card is an extremely good value for the money...

I wouldn't worry about the quality of parts in a barebones, for example, I've used Asus parts for a long time: they make a good product.

Those two barebones are identical! Both come with nice 600W power supplies, which was something I was going to tell you to look out for.

I think you've got a nice setup so far.

Now you've just got to find you a nice monitor...

Yeah, the two barebones are the same, except the motherboards. Just don't know if XFX makes decent ones, and from what I've read the fans can be noisy, but that's honestly not a concern since I wear a headset for a bit of my computer gaming.

I'll probably end up going with the Asus one though, since I know they've made motherboards for years and have heard good things.

And now that you've linked it, I'll probably grab that WD HDD. I like the number 500 more than 250 anyway.
