"Devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning."

~ Morrie Schwartz

This quote is from Tuesdays with Morrie, by Mitch Albom.  A few days ago, my dad said to my brother and me that if we read it, we'd have a good idea of what he was going ( Read more... )

our thoughts are with dick anonymous June 22 2006, 03:16:08 UTC
Hi robin, amir and tuni..Lisa just informed us of this journal. I was reading some of the postings and came across the June 15th posting by robin that dick had only 48hrs to live.
I was thinking of sending a photo from Lisa's graduation for dick to see. I am sure he would have liked that/ But from reading your posting it seems to late.
It is very sad. I last saw Dick at Fred's birthday party. I talked with him briefly. He told me he did not feel well. Tuni had advised us not to talk about the illness so I just said we would have him over when they got back from their trip.
It is hard to believe this is happening...he is way to young. I am so glad all of you are there. I am sure that is the most comforting thing for Dick.
I will stop and send this as I am not sure of the current situation. If you can let Dick know I am thinking of him and hope he returns to his home,
I love all of you.

My favorite Christmas Memories anonymous June 22 2006, 07:59:03 UTC
Dick Uncle,

My father and your two very thoughtful sons (through this journal) have kept me up-to-date on your health problems and I hope they are taking very good care of you over there. As bad as hospital food is...and as bad as British food is, I hope the combination is not a 'multiple' : >

One of my fondest memories growing up was the Christmas times we spent together at our house. The most vivid part of this experience was having you dress up as Santa Claus. (This worked much better than Ramesh Uncle or Saroj as you much better fit the images in our adolescent heads of the jolly Saint Nick) You always played the role very well and made us happy. (Much happier than some of the scary sweaters I received under many Christmas trees).

In addition, Saroj and I greatly appreciated your support during the last few years as we went through our own family health issues. I remember vividly the wonderful things you had to say about my mom.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Love,

Sanjeev
