Okay. To all the gear sluts out there (Andrew, I'm looking at you), should I buy an Audix D6 kick-drum microphone if I could get one for around $100 used?

I read your last post but didn't comment because my near-total lack of microphone knowledge would be clear pretty fast. I own an SM-57 (pretty much the most common mic ever) and my landlord gave me a Realistic Highball-2 that he found in the basement that I'll probably never use.

But I'm all for encouraging friends to buy shit they want, so go for it! You only need to build up your microphone arsenal once.

Yeah. I saw a 6-pack of SM 57s on ebay for $500 and I almost gave in. 6 57s could record just about anything. It's THE most eminnantly microphone ever built.
