saw brokeback again

better the second time. not the audience though, just the movie.

this time i went with sarah, jig, tracy g., rachellis, meghan, and molly. we had such a good time. we went and ate at a 24 hour diner called papermoon afterward.

i love to hate the movie and hate to love it.

my new icon is credited to cappa8. i love that scene.

See, here's my thing with it. I saw it the day it came out in Bethesda (cuz I was NOT about to wait haha). And I wanted SOOOOOO badly to love it but...I dunno there was just something missing from it. I really want to see it a second time to see if I feel the same about it cuz I was pretty ambivalent walking out of there. Soooo yeah.

my main problem with brokeback mountain came in its lack of hope. not even a glimmer. it did a good job in painting that picture but i'm not sure that accurately captures that experience in reality.

i need to read the short story. i just found myself so upset with ennis' inability to change in the end. i don't know. it wasn't like the ripley ending where you saw that he could have had happiness had he only given up his falsehoods. ennis held onto that until the very end even when everything in his life told him otherwise.

but he did change. he brokedown when he found the jacket and he realized that he had to be there for his daughter because if you don't make time for the things and people you love, they will soon be gone.

the change was just a bit more subtle than ripley's.
