Oh yeah, for politicians it's a different story--they are the embodiment of a segment of this collective action, so to a certain degree it is an indvidiaulistic enterprise.

I'm willing to give Clinton the benefit of the doubt so far that she's genuinely trying to win, not just to sabotage Obama, but maybe that's naive...

Well, if Clinton wins every primary from here on out, she can make the case that ultimately she is whom the party wants. But to do that she really needs to win those primaries, not just "lose by less than expected in North Carolina."

A Clinton supporter can argue (1) that Clinton is making Obama look weak because he is weak, and (2) that the general election actually is a partisan and class battle, and the Democrats win for sure only if they're willing to fight it, and Hilary is the one willing to fight it and Barack isn't, which is why she's now having something of a resurgence.

That said, and bearing in mind that I'd have voted for Clinton if I hadn't had a commitment that kept me away from the caucus, she should drop out, or anyway, needs to drop out if she doesn't win both Indiana and North Carolina.

Meant to write "Hillary," not "Hilary." (I like "Come Clean," but do not think it qualifies Hilary to be president. Also, the constitution dictates that she be over 35, which she isn't.)
