haha, here comes one of the posts that makes one think "how am I supposed to reply to this without offending anyone?" XD
I found a book today called "Burka" by Eva Schwingenheuer, the front cover looks like this:

I would get offended if I didn't know that books like that are now written just for the hell of it.

Like, you know, "I'm doing this because omg I CAN!" and "I'm "writing" this book to show people that I'm not AFRAID of terrorists!" and frankly relying completely on the shock factor to sell. "People already hate Islam so this book is going to get their support just based on the solidarity that that hate brings".

The fact that she got even the wrong TERM says all there is to say about how well she knows her "subject", lol.

It makes me wonder if the title was for the sake of Western audiences who don't know the difference 8|

I guess it's one of those things where you say "and this is A Perspective". I'm curious: have you ever read Persepolis? I read it for a comparative lit class, a few years ago.

Probably. The term Burka was used in the media everytime, so it could be someone else who got it wrong and Burka became the only term everyone could associate with niqab. But it's still possible that the illustrator was just plain dumb.

Didn't read Persepolis. Is it about childhood in Iran? Was it good/bad?

*cringes* If anybody in Malaysia saw this, shit would hit the fan. But I can't really be offended. It looks like an irl troll.

That reminds me of the book we have in Holland:

Burka Babes by Peter de Wit

Which is actually a comicbook...and pretty funny...

I saw some pictures of Burka Babes too, those ones are funny and the author put more thoughts into it and made them act as humans, not just clothes.
