http://life-on-mars.wikia.com/wiki/Alex_Drake Personality:
Alex Drake is the type of woman who possesses a strength that has come from years of bad experiences. Her parents died when she was eight years old but even before then she was starting on a journey to become a strong, independent girl. Her mother was distant and she would always go on to try and make her proud but no matter how hard she tried as a child her mother rarely showed a lot of love. She was a strict mother. Her father was full of love and helped counter the times her mother upset her. But that aspect of her childhood helped to develop how she would come to be as an adult.
Once Alex became a mother she was incredibly loving and, despite her work, she done what she could to be there and spend as much time as possible with her daughter. Given that her husband walked out on them when she was only six months old, she had no choice but to call on that strength she had developed as a youth and put it to the test now. She had another life which was far more important and she had no option but to stand tall. It is certainly a very good part of Alex. She is not easily knocked down and even after she is shot and killed, although it took her three years to realise she was dead, she refused to become an upset wreck and stood tall. Fought the urge to give in.
She’s a stubborn woman. It’s possibly one of the things that the majority of people hate when it comes to her personality. She knows her mind and will fight with everything she has to be listened to. If she thinks something is right she will do it even if she is discouraged by others. This is often something which leads to her arguments with her DCI Gene Hunt. But she would not change her stubborn, independent ways. It’s how she lives. She rarely depends on others, though Gene has become a solid rock she relies on, and has learned to live like that. Too many people have left her for her to form too close an attachment. She is close to the core CID lot in the 1980’s and had a group of close friends in the 2000’s but until she met Gene no one really got under her skin.
She does anything for those she loves. Her daughter is the most important thing to her and it upsets her greatly that she’ll never be with her again. Given she had been left an orphan she did not want that for her Molly. She had promised to be with her to blow out her birthday candles and throughout her time in the 80’s that is the core reason she fights to leave. But once she becomes friendly with Gene, Chris, Ray and Shaz she is less willing to go. Her daughter means a lot but so do these people. They became her family. Her loyalty to those she loves is also shown by her time in 1981. She spent as much of her time there as possible trying to prevent her parents from being killed and when she was unable to, she was heartbroken. Even more heartbroken when she discovered her father had arranged it all due to a brief affair Alex’s mother had with her godfather. Her father had always been a pillar of strength and now he was the clown which had haunted her nightmares.
She does not have a lot of insecurities though can be weak at times like many. She holds a grudge, even holding it against her mother who was unaware of who Alex was when they met in 1981. It even transferred to the moment when she met her ex husband as a fourteen year old boy. She didn’t waste time in yelling at him about leaving her and Molly when Molly was so young. She can be quick to anger and it’s sometimes hard to calm her down when she hits that peak.
She’s incredibly bright and has been since youth. She has a very firm understanding in how the brain works and isn’t afraid to use her knowledge even if she gets teased by the boys every time she sprouts out any of her knowledge. She can stand up to them easily and isn’t scared to do so.
Now that she knows she’s dead she will begin to calm slightly. She can’t get back to Molly and that upsets her deeply, but she knows the fight is worthless now. She won't stop her stubbornness and that anger will still bubble away, it’s how she is. But she isn’t refusing to believe what could have happened to her and has accepted death. Though she is very eager to return to Gene even though she knows it’s impossible. As much as she would dread to admit it, she’s really come to love the man.

Powers/Abilities: Alex is a psychologist and a very good one at that. She’s also a good shot, after firearms training. But nothing superhuman.

She didn't want to leave him. She had hoped the kiss would make him change his mind, would allow her to stay with him and help just like she wanted to do. Now she knew what was going on there was nothing to lose. She couldn't go back to Molly and although the thought saddened her, she couldn't lose someone else. But she could tell she had to go. Taking a few steps back, she eventually turned her back on him and walked toward the Railway Arms, the gateway to her leaving this place. Chris, Ray and Shaz were already through, perhaps they would be waiting there for her. Sam Tyler and Annie too.
She could hear the music as her hand came to the handle. She should turn around and demand that Gene let her stay. But she knew it was useless arguing with him, he was too stubborn. She would see him again when it was his turn, and she just hoped that would be sooner rather than later. Pulling at the door, she stepped in and found herself in what she did not anticipate was heaven.
Frowning, she looked around. Where had the rest gone, she had followed them in. Surely they would wait for her to come when they knew she would? Taking a few steps, she turned back only to see the door was gone.
"Shaz? Ray, Chris?" she called out, hoping they would run over. But they didn’t. Alex continued to glance around then started to walk, very hopeful that it would happen. But the longer she waited the more she realised that it wasn’t going to happen. She was alone.
