#1. Posting in an LJ is meant to draw attention to what's on your mind. If you didn't want it to attract attention, you would've kept it private.
#2. A college or university never goes by where at least one person doesn't drop or change their program. The people we know who dropped out completely are fewer than the ones who dropped certain courses. Classes seem smaller, but they'll have to repeat them anyway. What other people are doing shouldn't be a cause for reflection of what YOU'RE doing, ever.
#3. Fuck. Your. Parents. You're an adult now, you have every right to love them as a child and do fuck all for them as a person. Your methods for success should not be framed around people who make you feel bad or put you down. Use your defiance as a means to prove them wrong.
Suceed on your own terms, not someone else's. Do your own work and get it done. It will go a long way.
You need to do what is right for you. If it is leaving the program to do something else then leave the program. Not everyone is meant to go to college right after high school. Some “normal” non-school life might do you well for a bit.
As everyone else as said. Fuck your paretns. They of all people should understand some of what is going on. So they spent some money on school? That is what parents do.
If you want to get away you know I will always put you up for a bit.
