Right here I'm going to put a huge SPOILER WARNING!! Because being spoiled isn't fun, yeah?
So yes. Just watched "Day of the Moon" on YouTube. Yay for YouTube!
I'm not usually one for writing reviews. This isn't a review, because that would imply judgement. I'm not judging! I'm just reacting. So this is a reaction post, 'kay?
Right. So I want to know who that girl is. She is a Time Lord? She's regenerating there at the end? So who is she? Who is she in relation to the Doctor? And why, for the love of heaven, are they moving on to some pointless episode about pirates instead of explaining??? I don't think I've ever been irritated by a thing like that before. Generally I like the 'normal' eps as opposed to 'story arc' eps, but it is not fair to give us that little teaser and then leave us in the dust. You just know they aren't going to address her at all for at least a few more eps. NOT Fair!
Moffat isn't very good at making me believe in character death. I haven't believed any of them. ANY of them. You cannot convince me that the Doctor is dead. That's ridiculous. I don't know how they are going to 'fix' that, but they pretty much have to. It's Mulder 'committing suicide' all over again, except this time I am not buying it, so there. (On The X-Files, they did a season finale which implied that Mulder shot himself. I was eleven years old and heartbroken! I can't even remember how they explained the gun shot later, but Mulder wasn't dead.)
Also, River. Poor River. We're supposed to find out about River sometime this season. I would like that to be sooner rather than later, thank you. Loved the scene where she shoots all the Silence things.
Although, what I don't understand about that scene is that it suddenly seems like the Doctor remembers the Silence is there. Like there is that one, and he keeps turning his back on it, but then he turns back. It's like he knows it's there even when he can't see it. I don't understand how that happens all of a sudden. Perhaps it's because he's talking and the thread of it helps him remember.
What are people going to do with the bodies of the Silence after they shoot them? Presumably some people are going to shoot them before they all escape. They'll kill them, but then turn away and forget the body is there. But won't it stink? And they won't know what the smell is until they look at the body again, but they'll keep looking away, so... Am I weird for wondering about this?
Did it look like the girl regenerated into a man to anyone else? Because that's how it looked to me, but I could be wrong. I think it must be significant how she looks now, because they didn't show us. You know what I mean? So she must be someone important that we've seen before. OR perhaps we haven't seen the face before, but when it shows up, we're not supposed to know immediately that it's her. If the little girl is a Time Lord, why couldn't the Doctor smell her?
What exactly happened in that warehouse? They don't explain it very well. How did they all become fugitives? What did the government think they did? If they were fugitives and the Doctor was a prisoner, why didn't Nixon know about it? Obviously, he still trusts the Doctor. Or is this one of those "parts of the government are above the President" things? I can accept that. I just wish someone had said.
The actor they got looks NOTHING like Nixon. I think it's funny that they felt the need the play a bit of Hail to the Chief every time he came on screen, so we would remember who he was. 'Who is that? Oh, the music. That's their crappy Nixon. Right.'
OMG I JUST HAS A THOUGHT!!! What if the little girl is Jenny?? You know Jenny the 'generated anomaly' from "The Doctor's Daughter"? I keep hoping they will bring her back. Although, I'm not sure how she'd travel through time back to the '60's without a time machine, but she is a Time Lord. She can regenerate! I'm actually proud of that one. I haven't heard that theory anywhere else. Hmmm
I'm kinda hoping Capt. Jack will show up in the pirate episode. I know he won't, but it would be funny. Because he's Capt. Jack and they are pirates! Get it? Yeah.
Well I need to go make lunch.
