it is draining to hear (typically from coworkers) of how life merely consists of "living it up;" their translation being wasted, getting laid, making money, etc. however it made me think: even though i don't "live it up" the way they do, aren't there other ways in which i avoid living a truly valuable life? like you mentioned, it's about giving yourself...but i think one thing that is often overlooked is how christians specifically do the exact same thing we see our coworkers doing, but just through different means. truly giving yourself away selflessly is something that we all naturally lack the desire to do...and whether it's by drinking (a means of entertainment, escape, distraction) or something else, christians especially need to examine what their actions are and why.

wow, i just preached a whole sermon to myself! i'll try to take note of what i said...

side note: i almost hate how easy it is for me to slip into the lingo i was raised in...not that it's merely lingo; i have to be careful that it's something i know and believe and hold to with every fiber of my being. i hate how i know exactly how to talk the talk...but how do i live?
