even though i'm trying to avoid the whole hp-dh thing

this is one theory. and i think it's pretty awesome.
There is more than one book. J. K. Rowling has written multiple versions of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, all of which will be released, without advance warning, Friday at midnight. They are mixed together in the shipments to booksellers. No buyer will know whether she is getting Harry Live or Harry Dead - or even that, Schrödiger’s Cat-like, Harry could be either - until she reads her copy through and starts exchanging IMs.
By about 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, the Evelyn Wood alumnae will have figured out what has happened. Then will ensue the most profitable phase of the Potter Cycle. Every hard core Potterian will be desperate to acquire every single version (except my friend, who will scour eBay for the Good Living Snape one). Debates will rage over which is the true ending. Public pressure will force Congress to put surrender on the back burner while it investigates literary hype. (I hope that we don’t wind up at war with Scotland.)
Having been the first to reveal this covert intelligence, I expect a modest reward in money or glory. Appreciative donations may be directed to my PayPal account, unstinted praise to the Comments.
